'This is our problem': Lacazette really upset with 'stressful' Arsenal issue after NLD win

Arsenal match-winner Alexandre Lacazette spoke to Sky Sports after the North London derby at the Emirates on Sunday.

The Gunners dominated most parts of the game and were unlucky to not be two or three goals up at the break. Erik Lamela’s Hail Mary goal gave them the lead, but Martin Odegaard struck back just before the break.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

Lacazette won a penalty in the second half and converted it brilliantly. That gave us a massive boost and a red card to Lamela in 76th minute should have put us in an extremely comfortable position in the latter stages of the game.

However, it was anything but comfortable. Arsenal, for some reason, forgot how to play football for a while after the sending off, and if luck wasn’t on our side at the end, we could easily have dropped points yet again.

Arsenal somehow managed to get over the line, but the defending in the last 15 minutes is a serious cause for concern. Lacazette admitted that the performance after the sending off is a huge problem and urged everyone at the club to improve the way we manage the games.

He said: “It is really stressful. This is our problem.

“When we are winning we have some problem to manage the game at the end – even 11 against 10. This is where we have to improve a lot. But in the end, we won and we need to appreciate the three points, and think about Thursday.”

Arsenal Insider’s view:

Only Arsenal can dominate a game 11v11 but immediately struggle after having a numerical advantage.

We decided to give them the ball, sit back and absorb the pressure when we should have been making Tottenham work their socks off to win the ball back. That gave Spurs some belief that they didn’t have throughout the game and they almost made us pay.

Dropping points after a performance like yesterday’s would have been extremely painful. Thankfully, we didn’t and hopefully, this will help us see out all the other games in the coming weeks and months.
