Jack Wilshere (Bournemouth) and Calum Chambers (Middlesbrough)
It was a quiet week for the Premier League’s loan players as Jack sat on the bench for Bournemouth’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford while Calum is still recovering from a stress fracture to his foot. Middlesbrough have not kept a clean sheet in the last two games he has missed and are now in the bottom three.
Wojciech Szczesny – Roma
Wojciech’s Roma side suffered a 2-1 defeat to Napoli this weekend. The ‘keeper could have done better with the goals but in truth he was not given much defensive cover by the back line. Roma are still second in Serie A but now only two points ahead of Napoli in third.
Takuma Asano – VfB Stuttgart
The forward was introduced at half time with his side level 1-1 against Eintracht Braunschweig. Stuttgart had taken the lead earlier in the game but were reduced to 10 men before conceding a minute later. The game ended 1-1 and Takuma had little impact managing just one shot off target.
Daniel Crowley – Go Ahead Eagles
Dan played the full 90 minutes for his side’s 2-2 draw with Heerenveen over the weekend. It was a solid display in which he commanded the midfield well and completed over 90% of passes attempted.
Jon Toral – Rangers
The Spaniard scored his first goal for Rangers in their 6-0 Scottish Cup Quarter Final demolition of Hamilton. After some tough weeks recently where he has faced criticism from some areas of the Rangers support, it is good to see him gain form which we can take forward.
Marc Bola – Notts County
Bola started and played 66 minutes of County’s 3-0 defeat to Stevenage. It was a poor defensive display from the team as a whole and the side were three goals down before the fullback was replaced.
Matt Macey – Luton Town
The goalkeeper played his second game for Luton and kept a clean sheet in the 4-0 win against Yeovil Town.
Gedion Zelalem – VVV-Venlo
Introduced into the game in the 76th minute, Gedion wasn’t really given much time to change the game which finished 0-0 against Utrecht’s reserve side.
Chuba Akpom (Brighton) was not included in the match day squad and Krystian Bielik (Birmingham) was an unused substitute.
