They have failed to win in their last four games and need to pick up form if they are to have a chance of survival.
Liverpool drew 2-2 at home with Bournemouth to extend their unbeaten run to five games. With Man City’s defeat they do now extend their lead over fourth place, but a win would have made their position more comfortable. Bournemouth drop to 13th in the league but with a seven-point cushion over the relegation places they should have enough to stay safe this season.
Manchester United scored a late penalty to draw 1-1 at home to Everton, their 12th draw of the season so far. They are now level on points with Arsenal but drop to 6th on goal difference. Everton have lost just two games in the last 14, away at Liverpool and Spurs. They stay in 7th place but are now just seven points behind the top four, and have a slim chance of breaking into it.
West Brom continued their shaky form since reaching the 40 point mark with a 2-0 defeat away to Watford. Southampton became the first team to beat Crystal Palace in five games as the won 3-1 at Saint Mary’s. With that win, they move into 9th. They, like Watford, are seven points behind West Brom but have two games in hand and may be able to make up enough points to move up the league. They face a difficult run of games coming but still have one in hand over their relegation rivals.

Stoke City fell out of the top half of the table courtesy of their third straight defeat, this time away at Burnley. Burnley were themselves on a poor run of form but their first win in eight attempts has moved them towards safety. They are now in 14th place and sit seven points above Swansea.
The final game of this mid-week round was the most significant at the bottom of the league as Hull City beat Middlesbrough to move out of the drop zone. Their third straight home win moved them two points above Swansea. Middlesbrough have now not won in 13 games, a run which stretches back to December. They find themselves seven points from safety, but have a game in hand over the others.
It was a good game week for Arsenal as they managed to turn their form and pick up three points in the chase for the top four. They still need other teams to drop points, but given their run of fixtures over the coming weeks it may be possible to move back into the Champions League places.
