Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has had his say on young Bukayo Saka and what he needs to do now to take his game to the next level.
The teenager burst onto the scene under Unai Emery and has gone from strength to strength. He is arguably our best player and Arsenal fans are dreaming about how incredible he’ll be in a few years.
Wenger was asked about the same and the legendary Frenchman claimed that Saka has one final hurdle to clear before he can establish himself as one of the best players in the Premier League, if not the world.
He said on beIN Sports: “It is a final hurdle to see if he (Saka) can cope with that kind of pressure (being targetted by opposition defenders).
“How does he respond to provocation? Does he keep control? Does he not accept to be bullied, and can he respond? In him, you see all the positive signs on that front.”
Arsenal Insider’s view:
If there’s one person in the world who knows how to develop young players, it’s Wenger. The Frenchman turned talented unknown youngsters into one of the best players in world football on numerous occasions.
If he sees something good in Saka, we must all be very optimistic.
The teenager already looks comfortable against some of the best defenders in the division. He has no fear and Mikel Arteta has rightly given him the freedom to go out there and show the world what he’s made of.
As Wenger said, he now has show that he can control himself when the opponents try to bully him. He needs to stay calm and do what he does best, and if he can start to do that consistently, he will go on to become one of the best players in the world very soon.
