Arsene Wenger spoke on NBC Sports’ Men in Blazers show about a potential return to Arsenal in some capacity.
The legendary Frenchman left us in the summer of 2018 after 22 incredible years. Wenger will forever be our greatest ever manager, but the way he was treated by a section our fan base has clearly left a sour taste in his mouth.
As a result, the former Arsenal boss hasn’t stepped foot inside the Emirates since his departure, not even as a fan. That really is a shame.
We really could use his expertise at board level, and Wenger has opened the door for a potential return – only if Edu, Mikel Arteta or Vinai Venkatesham ask him for his help.
Asked if he wishes to return to the club to help Arteta, Wenger said: “I wish nothing. If I’m needed, I will help them. But I don’t expect that, no.”
Should Arsenal bring Arsene Wenger back?
It is pretty clear that Wenger is not a happy man considering how badly he was treated. He was hounded out of the club by certain fans who didn’t care to give a moment’s thought about everything he had done for us.
Almost three years after he left us, it is pretty clear that he wasn’t the problem. Bringing him back in some capacity would be the perfect apology, and we will massively benefit from his expertise – both on and off the pitch.
Both Arteta and Edu are fairly new to their jobs. Wenger knows everything either of them need to know to succeed at the top level, and the pair could really use his insight to take Arsenal back to where we belong.
