Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta faced the media ahead of his side’s trip to Goodison Park to face Everton tomorrow.

The Gunners looked a lot better in the game against Southampton than we did in our previous few games. Gabriel’s red card cost us again, but there were a lot of positives to take from the draw on Wednesday.

Arteta wanted a win last time around but he was content with the point considering the circumstances. We need some sort of spark and the Arsenal boss has delivered some exciting news in his press conference today.

Gabi Martinelli is back!

Arteta told “There are players that are ended up the last phase of their rehab, like Calum Chambers, Pablo Mari who has already played some minutes in the Europa League, Mustafi as well. Gabriel Martinelli is very close to being available and fit to be part of us as well, which is great news.”

“Gabi is pure enthusiasm, energy, belief, charisma and goals. And this is him. He is around the training ground and he’s around our training sessions and the energy is different because he goes 100 miles per hour.”

“He’s got this passion and his way of playing and he is a threat. He is a player that we’ve been missing because he brings something special to the team. He’s contagious with his attitude and I think it’s going to be a big boost when we have him.”

Martinelli has been out of action since June. He damaged his knee in training just two games after Project Restart, and he had to undergo surgery to get his problem fixed.

The Brazilian played 45 minutes for our under-21’s against AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Trophy recently, and he looked sharp. Arsenal fans can’t wait to have him back, but they might have to be patient for a few more days.

It is unlikely that Martinelli will be a part of the squad for the game at Everton tomorrow, but his imminent return is a massive boost. The youngster was one of our best players lasts season, and him being available will add some much-needed firepower to our goal-shy attack.
