Arsenal legend David Seaman has given his seal of approval on Mikel Arteta and Edu signing Ben White from Brighton in the coming days.
The Gunners are working really hard to complete a deal for the Englishman, who was brilliant for the Seagulls last season. Arsenal have already had a bid rejected for White, but there is a lot of optimism about securing this deal.
David Ornstein revealed on The Athletic today that Arsenal are edging closer to signing White, with the move set to cost as much as £50 million.
David Seaman: Ben White would be a good signing for Arsenal
Arsenal fans have their doubts on the signing, especially as we already have one of the brightest young prospects in world football in William Saliba. However, Seaman is absolutely convinced that White would be an excellent addition to our side.
He told Goal: “He’s got everything [needed] to go and take hold of it and give it his best shot. He’s got the physique, he’s got the temperament. At Leeds it’s a high-press, high-tempo game, so his fitness is also not in doubt.
“The only question mark you can put on him is can he play in the big games? But we’ll just have to wait and see, because he’s not played in them yet. Hopefully, he will go on and play for England and when he does that, hopefully, he will carry on [with his development].
“Would he be a good signing for Arsenal? Of course, he would because he’s a good player.”
The Insider’s View:
There’s absolutely no doubt about White’s quality. He is one of England’s most talented defenders at the moment, and the fact that he is still only 23 means that he will only get better in the coming years.
The Brighton man is hugely versatile as well. He is naturally a centre-half, but he has played in right-back and in defensive midfield. That will give Arteta a ton of options if the deal goes through, and that is probably why he is so desperate to get this done.

All things suggest that Arsenal will sign White in the very near future. He will be an excellent signing, but it will be interesting to see how this deal will impact Saliba, who is yet to play a competitive game for us.
