Jamie Carragher says Arsenal are contenders to win the Premier League title

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has claimed that Arsenal are contenders to win the Premier League ahead of title favourites Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta’s men have been phenomenal so far this season. We’ve won six of our first seven games in the league and are on top of the Premier League table at the moment.

Jamie Carragher says Arsenal are contenders to win the Premier League title

Before the season started, nobody really expected Arsenal to be anywhere near the Premier League title. Everyone believed it was going to be between Liverpool and Manchester City again, but early signs suggest something else.

SAKA, ANTONY AND 10 PREMIER LEAGUE STARS HEADING TO THEIR FIRST WORLD CUP

Liverpool have had a shocking start to the campaign. They look nothing like their previous self, and with Arsenal playing so well early on, Carragher believes that the Gunners could well go on and win the Premier League crown.

He told talkSPORT: “If you actually watched Arsenal this season, you’d never seen it before, they do look like they could be title contenders.

“I’ve always been a huge fan of Mikel Arteta, I really like how brave he’s been, certainly last season [as he] brought in all these young players, now their 12 months older, but the signing of Jesus and Saliba coming in at the back almost feels like it has completely changed the whole aspect of Arsenal right now.

“I think they could be a lot closer than what people give them credit for.”

The Insider’s View:

Will Arsenal win the Premier League this season? We don’t think so.

Yes, we’re on top of the Premier League table, yes, we’ve looked absolutely incredible, and yes, we can beat any team in the country on our day.

However, we just feel Manchester City are way too strong for us or any other club in the country. Erling Haaland looks like he’ll win the league on his own for Pep Guardiola’s side at the moment, and they are the absolute favourites.

City will back themselves to go all the way again this season, but nobody knows how the World Cup will impact the second half of the campaign. That may just give Arsenal a chance to pip City, but it still feels extremely unlikely.
