Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp spoke to Esporte Interativo about Arsenal’s teenage sensation Gabriel Martinelli.

The Brazilian scored twice against Klopp’s Liverpool in the Carabao Cup last week and has been in fine form this season. Martinelli has seven goals in just four starts this season making him the highest-scoring teenager in Europe.

Speaking about the 18-year-old, Klopp said: “I saw Arsenal’s Europa League matches. He is 18 years old, right? We have scouts all over the world and I think Edu Gaspar deserves all the credit for that signing. He came from who knows where and is an unbelievable player. He’s so young and looks so mature. It’s already a threat on the pitch.”

Klopp has played a massive part in helping a number of youngsters become world-class footballers over the years. The German is as good a judge as anyone when it comes to young players and Martinelli’s confidence should be sky high now after Klopp’s comments.

With a lot of the season yet to be played, Martinelli will certainly have more chances to showcase his skills on the big stage. If he can continue to perform as well as he has done over the last two months, he is, without doubt, going to be an integral part of the squad in the coming years.

Edu and everyone who played a part in signing Martinelli deserve a huge amount of credit. The youngster could well be the next big thing to come out of South America and with Aubameyang and Lacazette rubbing shoulders with him, the chances of him becoming one of the best in the world is super high.
