Premier League legend and former Manchester City star has now claimed that Arsenal are the only team capable of challenging his old side at the top of the table.
Arsenal were fantastic for most of last season and were ahead of everyone apart from treble winners Man City in terms of both performances and results.
Mikel Arteta’s side have strengthened over the summer window with Declan Rice and Kai Havertz coming in, and will be aiming to challenge Pep Guardiola’s side for the title.
Silva, who retired from football this summer, has now claimed that no one apart from the Gunners will be able to stop City from winning a potential fourth consecutive league title.
Why Pele Is Overrated.
“Arsenal are the only team I can see who maybe have a chance of challenging City. The rest? I don’t think they can,” the Spaniard told The Mirror.
A clear top two
Arsenal went up a level last season, and although there has been some shakiness at times at the start of this season, it is clear that Arteta’s side are no longer seen as top-four contenders, and are now viewed as one of the best sides in the country.

With raised expectations comes raised pressure, and despite taking 10 points from a possible 12 so far this season, there is still some doubt over a number of aspects of the performances so far.

Arteta’s team selections have been questioned, whilst new signing Havertz has been criticised.
However, despite some minor issues, this Arsenal team has a lot of quality, and will be expecting to finish in the top two this season, with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle still a bit behind.
It is big praise from Silva that he only sees Arsenal as a potential threat to Man City, and it is a testament of how far Arsenal have come within the last two years that they are now being respected by top players from the best teams.
