Arsenal’s record signing Nicolas Pepe spoke to RMC Sport about his start in England and admitted that he hasn’t been good enough so far.

Pepe was one of the best players in Ligue 1 last season, scoring 23 goals and providing 12 assists in all competitions. The Ivorian has so far only netted once for the Gunners but he has shown glimpses of his ability in the Red and White.

When asked about his form, Pepe was honest in his assessment and said: “It’s not been easy, we must tell the truth. I’m not good enough in my stats or my usual form, it’s not the same as in Lille or during the Liverpool match early in the season.”

Pepe’s biggest positive as an Arsenal player came against Liverpool in the 3-1 defeat at Anfield. The Ivorian was a constant threat to the Reds’ backline and became the first player to dribble past Virgil van Dijk in over 40 games.

The Ivorian, however, claimed that he isn’t too worried about his form and assured Arsenal fans that he will not take much longer to adapt to his new club.

“The confidence must come back. I am not very worried. People may be worried about statistics, but I’m not. I have to keep working because the level is different, so is the language. It’s a new championship for me. I have to adapt quickly but it will not be long,” Pepe said.

Fans must be patient with Pepe

The Premier League is a level above the rest of the top European leagues and most players will take time to adapt. Pepe is still only 24 with the best years of his career yet to come. The Ivorian will certainly come good and Arsenal fans should remain patient with him at least till the turn of the year.
