Arsenal legend Robert Pires spoke to Ouest-France about Gabriel Martinelli and how he is the future of our club.
The Brazilian has been sensational since his arrival at the club. Martinelli has scored 10 times for us in all competitions this season and has shown the world that he is ready for the big stage despite only being 18 yeard old.
Martinelli has majorly featured on the left-flank and has impressed every time he has played. A left-winger himself back in the day, Pires hailed the youngster’s ability and predicted that he is the future of Arsenal.
He said: “He’s the revelation. I think he’ll confirm this and will be a very important player for the club. He’s not going anywhere. He’s part of the players who have a real potential, on who we will lean on for years to come. It’s important to have players like him”.
Pires is regularly at London Colney in Arsenal’s training sessions. The Frenchman would have seen a lot of Martinelli behind the scenes and if he believes in his ability, we should too.
Arteta not using him on Sunday was a big surprise to everyone considering his recent form. Martinelli is expected to start tonight against Olympiakos and if his previous form in the competition is anything to go by, he is likely to score.
Arsenal should be proud of the number of young players in our ranks at the moment. The likes of Bukayo Saka, Reiss Nelson, Joe Willock, Matteo Guendouzi, Eddie Nketiah and Martinelli are all tipped to be stars of our football club in the coming years.
