Rival boss 'pretty sure' he knows what Arsenal board will decide about Arteta's future

The scrutiny on Mikel Arteta’s future as Arsenal boss intensified after his side’s defeat to Manchester City at the Emirates last night.

That’s now just one win in our last nine games against English opposition and things don’t look like it will change. Many people are calling for Arteta’s head already.

The Arsenal manager was a fan favourite at the Emirates not too long ago when he won the FA Cup and the Community Shield. However, some fans have forgotten everything about that now, and they want him gone immediately.

Pep Guardiola, on the other hand, is of the opposite opinion. The Manchester City boss has warned Arsenal’s board that they will be making a huge mistake if they sack Arteta. But, he claimed that he is ‘pretty sure’ that his former assistant will be given the time he needs to turn things around.

Pep is ‘pretty sure’ Arsenal will continue to trust Arteta

He told BBC Sport (10:38): “They will do a huge, big mistake if they (sack Arteta). I’m pretty sure they are going to trust him. I understand for the analysts, (they) analyse the results. But I was with him many years and I know his incredible quality as a human being and especially as a manager”

“It’s just a question of time and he will do well. I’m not on the board. For me, they will do a big mistake if they are thinking (of sacking him).

“They give him the confidence, they won two titles when for a long time ago it didn’t happen at this club. In this pandemic situation, with injury problems they have and the games they played always they played good. But unfortunately, these games is our job and it depends on the results.”

Arteta showed last season that he has the quality to take our club forward. However, recent results look extremely bad. Things have to change very quickly to keep the fans at peace. If our woeful form continues, Arsenal’s board will be left with no choice but to show him the door.

Arsenal host Chelsea in the Premier League on Boxing Day. The Blues are viewed by many as contenders for the title this term. A win against them would certainly be massive and it could change our fortunes completely ahead of the new year.
