Tottenham Hotspur had the chance to do something that Arsenal haven’t achieved since the 1992-93 season – win the League Cup.
As expected, they were awful and Manchester City brushed them aside quite comfortably, even though only one goal was scored last night.
That extends Tottenham’s trophy drought to over 4800 days, which really is embarrassing for a club that think they are among the very best in the country.
Yes, they’ve finished above us regularly in recent seasons, but Arsenal, unlike Spurs, have still managed to win some silverware along the way.
Even though Arsenal had nothing to do with the game last night, almost every Gooner tuned in. It is safe to say, Spurs gave us a good laugh – just like they always do, in typical Spurs style.
Arsenal supporters had a fun time on Twitter last night. There was a lot of friendly (or not) banter aimed at Tottenham after their defeat, and former Gunner Mesut Ozil decided to join in on the act.
Arsenal fans, predictably, loved Ozil’s tweet. The German had his fair share of problems with Gunners supporters over the years, but the one thing we’ve always enjoyed is his hilarious digs aimed at Tottenham.
