Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has delivered his verdict on Arsenal star Kieran Tierney, speaking on the Lockdown Theatre.
The 23-year-old, signed by Unai Emery in 2019, has arguably been Arsenal’s best player. His runs and deliveries from the left are our biggest threat in attack, while his defending is brilliant as well. His absence against Crystal Palace showed just how weak we are without him.
Arsenal fans and Mikel Arteta love Tierney. The Scotsman’s fan base is ever-growing and it looks like the greatest manager in the history of the Premier League is the latest entry into the club.
Ferguson said: “I’m not sure how they’re gonna play Robertson and Tierney in the same team.”
“I know there were some situations where they played Tierney as the third centre-back. But, the form of Tierney since he’s gone to Arsenal has been phenomenal.”
Arsenal Insider’s view:
Receiving praise from your manager, teammates and fans is one thing, but if the greatest manager English football has ever seen is singing your praises, it means you’re doing something right.
Tierney has what it takes to be the best left-back in the world. Andy Robertson is regarded as the best in the Premier League at the moment, but the Arsenal man is not too far behind his compatriot.
The 23-year-old has a goal and three assists to his name since Boxing Day. He was one of our best players even when we couldn’t buy a win, and Arteta will be hoping that he carries his form until the end of this season.
