Troy Deeney has shed light on what he has heard from ‘reliable people’ about Arsenal star Kieran Tierney, speaking on TalkSPORT (4th January, 07.40 am).

The Scotsman has arguably been Arsenal’s best player this month. His performances have helped us get back to winning ways, and on Saturday, he showed a completely different side to his game.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

Tierney went on a solo run down the left, beat a man to cut inside, drove into the box and found the top corner with a sensational strike from his weaker foot. That made him even more of a fan favourite and praises have been flowing in over the last two days.

Deeney has compared the former Celtic skipper to Liverpool star James Milner. He raved about Tierney’s professionalism and work ethic behind the scenes, and labelled him ‘the best trainer’.

He said: “I’ve heard he’s exactly the same as James Milner.”

“He’s the best trainer, the best professional, I’ve heard from reliable people that he’s such a good trainer. He was gutted when he broke down, but he has immersed himself into what Arsenal is all about.”

Tierney deserves every praise he gets

Tierney’s tremendous goal will continue to be in people’s minds and rightly so. However, his overall game against West Brom and in the games against Brighton and Chelsea last month showed that he is a complete player.

It is hard to believe that the talented full-back is still only 23 years old. He is playing well beyond his age and many have backed him to be the next Arsenal skipper already – even Mikel Arteta.

The Arsenal boss admitted that Tierney has all the qualities to become an Arsenal captain. (Read here) Auba will retain the armband for a couple of years at least, but once he is gone, the Scotsman will be the favourite to become our new skipper.
