Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Brighton and Hove Albion star Yves Bissouma over the last few weeks. (Football London)

That move will not happen in this window, but there is a serious chance it could materialise in the summer.

Bissouma is growing in stature game after game. He has been one of Brighton’s best players this season, and his performance against Tottenham last night showed exactly why Arsenal are interested in him.

The Seagulls deservedly beat a very average looking Spurs side yesterday. Tottenham offered very little in attack, and almost every time they tried to do something, Bissouma was there to stop them.

The Mali international finished the game with with 42 touches of the ball and a stunning passing accuracy of 97%. He misplaced just one of his 30 passes, but his standout statistics came from defensive positions.

Bissouma made six interceptions, two tackles, two clearances and was dribbled past just twice in the entire game. (SofaScore) That is a stunning record against a side who many feel are contenders for this season’s Premier League crown.

Should Arsenal sign Bissouma?

Yes, yes and yes!

Bissouma would be an incredible signing. Recent weeks have showed that a double-pivot is the way forward at Arsenal. Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey are forming an incredible partnership in the middle of the park, but an upgrade there is never a bad idea.

The Brighton man is more defensive-minded than Xhaka which isn’t a bad thing. His inclusion would give Partey all the freedom he needs to drive forward, and we all know all know how good the Ghanaian is in that role.

Arsenal should seriously consider signing Bissouma this summer. The Mali international would offer us the steel we need in front of our defence, and the fact that he is reportedly available for just £25 million (But Football Club) makes him an absolute bargain if we can get him.
