The January transfer window is fast approaching, and Arsenal are being linked with many players.

The Gunners made eight new signings in the summer transfer window, and those additions have helped push them to the top of the Premier League and Champions League tables.

Arsenal fans are not expecting much from the January window, but they have now been linked with a new goalkeeper – Zion Suzuki – even though they have David Raya as their number one.

If you could swap David Raya with any goalkeeper in the world, would you?

Arsenal are interested in signing Zion Suzuki

Suzuki is one of the most talented young goalkeepers in Europe right now.

The Japan international has been linked with several top clubs over the last year – not just in the Premier League but in Europe as well.

Calciomercato have now claimed that Arsenal have joined Bayern Munich and the two Milan clubs in the race to sign Suzuki.

However, the 23-year-old is currently injured and ruled out of action for three months after fracturing his wrist and a finger during a game against AC Milan in November.

That is surprising, not just because he is injured, but also because the Gunners have two top-class goalkeepers in Raya and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

One reason behind this interest could be that Cesc Fabregas’ Como have been linked with a move to sign Kepa from Arsenal in 2026.

The former Chelsea man will only be a backup at Arsenal, so he could be tempted to go to Como and be their first-choice.

That explains the reported interest in Suzuki, but it’s unclear if the Gunners’ plan is to sign him in January while he’s still injured or wait till the summer.

Zion Suzuki would be the fifth Japanese player to play for Arsenal if he joins but who is your favourite and why?

Just four Japanese players have signed for Arsenal in history:

Carlos Cuesta could be the reason behind Arsenal’s interest in Zion Suzuki

Carlos Cuesta spent nearly five years at Arsenal as a part of Mikel Arteta’s coaching staff.

The Spaniard did a good job at the Emirates, but everyone knew that he was destined to become a manager himself one day.

In the summer, Parma came calling and appointed Cuesta as their new head coach. Suzuki has played 13 times under him and has impressed.

Cuesta may well have recommended the Japanese goalkeeper to Arteta. That could be the reason behind the Arsenal manager’s interest in him.
