Carlos Cuesta could be about to do a big favour to Arsenal.
The Spaniard was a part of Mikel Artetaโs coaching staff at the Emirates, but he received an offer to become the manager of Parma this summer.
Cuesta accepted the job and left the Gunners, leading to Arsenal appointing Gabriel Heinze as their new assistant coach.
Now, just a few weeks after his departure, Cuesta could help Arsenal by signing a player who has no future at the Emirates Stadium.
Carlos Cuesta wants to sign Arsenal star Fabio Vieira for Parma
Fabio Vieira has been on Arsenalโs books since the summer of 2022.
The Portuguese playmaker was a surprise signing from Porto three years ago, but Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar believed that he had what it takes to deliver.
However, Vieira hasnโt done enough to be a regular at Arsenal, and he spent the whole of last season on loan at his old club, Porto.
The 25-year-old is expected to leave the Gunners this summer, and Nicolo Shira has revealed that Parma, who are now managed by Carlos Cuesta, have asked for information about a deal.
Gazzetta dello Sport have also reported Parmaโs interest in Vieira, and they have revealed that Arsenal are seeking โฌ20 million (ยฃ17.25m) to let him go.
Arteta already has Martin Odegaard and Ethan Nwaneri in Vieiraโs position, while young Max Dowman is coming through the ranks as well.
Arsenal also want to sign Eberechi Eze this summer, and the Englishman would be an upgrade on Vieira in the number 10 role.
A permanent transfer is the best option for all parties involved, and if Parma do sign Vieira, Arteta owes Cuesta a big thank you for taking the 25-year-old off Arsenalโs books.

Carlos Cuesta could help Arsenal even more
Cuesta was a very popular member behind the scenes at Arsenal โ the players loved him.
The Spaniard wouldโve worked with Vieira at the Emirates, and he clearly feels that the Portuguese midfielder can deliver in Italy.
That is good news for Arsenal, but Arteta should seek Cuestaโs help to develop some of the younger players at the club too.
Arsenal should look to send one or two young players on loan to Parma, just so that they can develop and be ready to play in the first team.
The Gunners can also use Cuestaโs side to raise the valuation of some of their players. A good loan spell at Parma could increase the transfer fee of a player, and Arsenal could sell him for good money a year later.
