Chelsea have entered the race to sign right-back Ivan Fresneda, who has previously been targeted by Arsenal.
According to ESPN, Chelsea are interested in signing Ivan Fresneda, but as things stand Barcelona remain favourites to secure the 18-year-old’s signature.
Arsenal have a long-standing interest in Fresneda. The Gunners attempted to sign the player in the January transfer window of last season, and revived their interest earlier this summer, before bringing Jurrien Timber to the club.
However, the recent ACL injury sustained by Timber may force Arsenal back into the market. Mikel Arteta will be tempted to try once more to bring Fresneda to the Emirates Stadium.
Why Pele Is Overrated.
Fresneda himself may well be open to making a switch to north London. The Spain under-20 international has previously expressed his admiration of Arteta. However, with Barcelona and Chelsea lurking, Arsenal will have to act fast if they’re to strike a deal to sign the Real Valladolid full-back.

Fresneda is ideal for Arsenal and Arteta
Fresneda certainly fits the bill for the kind of player that Arteta tends to target. He is 6’0” and very powerfully built, able to win his physical duels, make quick recovery runs, and compete aerially. He is young, with plenty of potential to improve, but already has a season of top level experience under his belt. Fresneda is alto technically excellent, and composed enough on the ball to receive it under pressure and play incisive passes through the lines.
With Timber sidelined, there is now room for Fresneda in the Arsenal squad, and if they can get him for a fair price then his arrival would represent yet more excellent business in what has already been an impressive summer for the Premier League outfit.
Chelsea’s apparent interest in the youngster may well spark Edu into action in an attempt to hijack the deal.
