Arsenal are likely to make at least one more signing before the summer transfer window closes.

Mikel Arteta will be delighted to have had his six new signings in action over pre-season ahead of the Premier League kick-off.

There’s no room for error ahead of the new campaign, with Arsenal pushing to end their wait to win the league title finally.

While some believe Liverpool are favourites to win the league once again, others think one signing could give Arteta’s side the edge.

Eberechi Eze could be the missing piece to Arteta’s puzzle, with the England international being a player Arsenal admire.

Chris Sutton believes Arsenal have turned Eberechi Eze’s head

Arsenal are in contact with Eze’s representatives over a summer transfer, but the Gunners aren’t the only club eyeing the 27-year-old playmaker.

Tottenham are also drawn to the idea of signing the Crystal Palace ace this summer, who is protected by a £68m release clause.

There is a boost for Arsenal, as Eze favours a move to the Emirates, and that’s not the only plus.

Speaking on the BBC Football Daily podcast, pundit Chris Sutton was asked about the impact of Palace not securing Europa League football.

“With Eze, is it not easier for them to persuade Eze to resist the overtures from Arsenal if they can say, we have the Europa League rather than the Conference League?” Sutton was asked.

The pundit suspected that Palace being denied the chance to play in the second-tier European competition wouldn’t play the biggest role in Eze potentially joining Arsenal.

“That’s a decision he has to make, and if Arsenal have turned his head that much, I would be surprised if he did stay at Palace, but that would happen anyway.

“I don’t think that’s necessarily just down to whether you’re playing Europa League football or Conference League football.”

Sutton aired his opinion that Eze’s future at Selhurst Park relies mostly on how much his head has been turned by Arsenal.

Leandro Trossard transfer update opens a door for Eze

It’s understood that despite having Eze on side and being in contact with the 27-year-old, Arsenal’s priority is to get players out of the door.

Arsenal need to sell to balance the books before welcoming a new top-class player, with the ball already rolling in that department.

Leandro Trossard is likely to leave Arsenal this summer, in what could present a healthy cash return for Andrea Berta to work with.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, Reiss Nelson and Fabio Vieira are also on the departures list, with Berta having four players to release to possibly free up funds to sign Eze.

Time is ticking in the transfer window as the Premier League opener draws closer, with Eze considered to be Arsenal’s preferred next arrival.
