Chamakh Signs For Arsenal

chamakhsigns

Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that Moroccan international striker Marouane Chamakh has joined the Gunners on a long-term contract.

Chamakh (26), who joins Arsenal from French side Bordeaux, made a total of 293 appearances, scoring 79 goals during his eight years with Les Girondins.

In the 2008/09 league campaign, Chamakh scored 14 goals, helping Bordeaux win the French League title, thus ending Lyon’s seven-year domination of Ligue 1. The Moroccan striker’s fine form continued last season, playing an integral role in helping Bordeaux reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where they finished above both Bayern Munich and Juventus in the Group Stages.

Born and raised in France, but playing international football for Morocco through his parentage, Chamakh has made 53 appearances for the north African country, scoring 27 goals, and was part of the side which reached the Final of the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations.

Manager Arsčne Wenger said: “We are delighted that Marouane Chamakh has joined us. He is a player we have admired for some time now and I know he will provide our squad with great quality. Chamakh has proved he is a great player with his performances for Bordeaux and Morocco in recent seasons and we’re all looking forward to him joining us.

For the love of God, could you not write something original (i.e. your perspective on the signing) or at least paraphrase the official statement rather than just cut and paste a press release from Arsenal.com? What is the point of your site?

As for Chamakh, I’m pleased, he looks like an intelligent, hard working striker who’s good in the air and has the stomach for a fight. Maybe just what we need to partner RVP11 up front.

Chamak is a wonderful player, good on the air and can shoot with both legs. Good Signing Prof Wenge. Please sign 2 more central defenders, plus yaya toure and never allow Fabregas to leave. I strongly believe that if Fab stays we are going to win the EPL and FA CUP respectively. Come On Gunners

wengers not gonna sign 5 players be realistic! a keeper a centre back and someone who can play centre back and side back and were good to go even without fabragas were solid in midfield song was player of the season for us and ramsey offers more all round than the spaniard

Not sure about Chamakh but i guess time well tell. What we need is this cesc boring 2 year saga to end either go (for a ton of money) or fight for Arsenal and make that be the end of it.

I want my gladiator Arsenal team back. Time for the Arsenal players to grow up, stop talking shit to the press, stop talking online, stop playing in pointless international friendly’s, stop whinging about gallas.

Wenger i dont want to hear “getting these players back from injury will be like new signings”. The transfers dont stop with Chamakh you still got Almunia,Senderos,Silvestre,Denilson to get rid of.

Time to get it right it’s the last season im gonna give you to do it.

first signing in the transfer bag.i hope this is not the last one in the tranfer period.i tink he is a very good player.he can become a star player by playing for arsenal.he seems like a versatile player from the videos i have seen.wish him a good period at arsenal and also wish him to score more and and more like rooney and drogba to compete against them.something tells me that gunners are going to lift the trophy next season!!!

Arsene wenger in an interview in arsenal.com has clearly said that there will 2 more signings for sure in the other departments. That is a real good news.
i think one will be a defender to replace gallas, and the other one i seriously hope not be the replacement for cesc.

If Gallas leaves i think we will need more than 2 new signings. ideally i would like a new keeper, 2 cb and a centre midfielder but seeing as this probably won’t happen the priorities have to be a keeper and a centre back.

Luke Ayling has signed permanently for yeovil so thats another youngster who won’t be breaking into the first team although he quite impressed me at the barnet game last year.

Nothing is wrong with it i want my club to be successful i want them to win every trophy they play for and if that makes me a glory hunter so be it. But i think if after 6 seasons Wenger has still not won a trophy then it would be time for him to go.

I have looked at the Arsenal Holdings accounts for 2008/2009, in respect of the Notes to the Accounts. The Notes to the Accounts are the most important part of the Annual Report.
AW does not have ALL that amount of money to spend!!
Until the 2009/2010 accounts are printed abd released, we will not know if the money from Citeh is in the Bank or in the Notes regarding Debtors.
No wonder AW is being so cautious regarding transfers.
SO, if Barça owe €17,000 milos de Euros to Arsenal, then the transfers for AW becomes more diffucult.

Silencer, well done good post. Not. Why would you not want us to sign a quality player for FREE? Ok his wages will cost us but this guy is a proven scorer at C/L level so stop moaning.now all we need is Buffon and a decent partner for Tommy V. Fabregas is going no where soon. Come on you gooners!!

Interesting article on the state of bidding for lady nina’s shares. According to this, Nigerian Billionaire Aliko Dangote is in negotiation to buy it for £15000 a pop, but the article also “quotes” (sort of) a source “close to” Kroenke who says that he “is favourite to buy the holding” and has told blackstone that “he intends to bid”.

It also brings up the idea that Lady nina would want the deal to be done before the emergency budget on june 22 because of changes it is likely to bring to capital gains tax so if kroenke really is interested we could have a new owner sooner than I expected. Of course this bit is pure speculation on my part.

That’s right keep deluding yourself, wake up and look at arsenal for the past 5 years,we have nothing to show for anything, even cesc wants out of the crumbling empire.he’s definitely not looking to try on the emperers clothes.

good point. He’ll probably be coming back to arsenal next season after a year on loan at nurnberg. They avoided relegation in a two legged play off with the team who finished third in the 2nd division. He made 20 appearances, mostly as a defensive midfielder and mostly in the first half of the season i think. About half way through they got a new manager who obviously didn’t like him as much as the first one.

Well we have signed a striker but we need defenders to be able to win silverware. It’s not enough to play fantastic football but playing to win. All the champions in club footy have solid defenders. Jose Mourinho have just proven that you don’t win by necessarily having galaticos on your side but good experienced players and effective attackers and creative midfield plus a very good goaltender. We have good enough midfield & attack. But the defence is our problem that AW haven’t paid attention to for years. Hope he learns from the Jose experience.
