Cesc wants to leave Arsenal soon, says his old man

cesc
by CARL ELDRIDGE Could Cesc Fabregas be leaving the Arsenal sooner than we think? The club has made unofficial noises through their favoured hacks about a tug-of-war to keep our talismanic skipper with the latest tabloid price tag topping £80m. But according to Cesc’s old man his son wants to leave us ‘as soon as possible’ so he can conecntrate on Spain’s Wolrd Cup bid.
These are teh quotes running on French paper L’equipe’s website now: ‘Asked at the show “El Primer Toque” de Onda Cero, the father of Francesc Fabregas has discussed the situation in which his son is. “The negotiations between Barca and Arsenal will be long and hard.
‘But Francesc wants a transfer to take place as soon as possible to be quiet during the World Cup, “he said. We’ll see how it ends but Arsenal must respect the will of the player even if he is still under contract. Cesc has always been very pro. Thank Arsenal have been the player he is today, but we want a speedy resolution of negotiations. I think the Gunners will eventually let him go. “

The website goes on to say: ‘The Spanish international midfielder is currently training with Roja. Recovered from his calf injury, he trains normally last. Then it quotes Joan Oliver, CEO of Barcelona: “A player has expressed his desire to come. Was contacted to say that Arsenal wanted to discuss. It is there. It has not yet made an offer. We do not want to rush. This can take time. “

How much credence we can give to these remarks remains to be seen. Surely the move can’t take place before the World Cup. We don’t want to sell and want more wonga than the Catalans are going to offer initially.

It seems increasingly unlikely that a deal will be brokered before the World Cup, especially as Cesc and Spain are gearing up for the tournament in South Africa. Some reports today suggest Cesc has told friends that he is ’500 per cent’ sure of re-joining the club where he came through the youth ranks.

This one will run and run…

Don’t worry, according to those that bury their heads in the sand, this still does not warrant an official response from the club via arsenal.com (& no Hill-Wood speaking to the Star does not count in a million years)

So we’ve had comments from directors at Barcelona, the player, the players father & half his future team mates & not one official word from the club in 10 days.

Awful, stuck in the dark ages, weak, victimised, lame, pathetic, amateur. Just some of the words I could use to describe the management team at Arsenal.

1st June is season ticket renewal deadline day isn’t it…

I like many other gooners am getting more angry by the day with this, i have no problem with him leaving now but Barca are trying to call all the shots while acting like we are somehow in the wrong for not bending over on the price. It is far more simple than they are making it.We as the club that owns the contract or licence of the player set a value of the players ability, age, length of contract and likely future promise. They are required to meet that price or accept they either cannot afford the price or simply value the player at less.

It is not complicated, can you imagine trying to buy a car and telling the salesman the price?.

Personally i don’t advocate keeping players against their will and Fab4 has earned the right to go to his childhood club but i do advocate Arsenal playing hard ball this time round.Fortunately for us and unfortunately for Barca the board and manager are on the same page and will not budge.Barca claim they will act with respect to the selling clubs to maintain a good working relationship ( what an oxymoron ) but they have not realised that is no longer possible.I do wonder where Platini is in all of this?, Perhaps i should wait for his public condemnation of Barca tapping players up or their astronomical spiralling debts………. think i might be waiting a while because they are not English lol

Have a great day fellow gooners

I’m not sure this is completely how it works. In your car analogy the customer would have to turn up to the showroom before the salesman can tell them the price. We can’t really state a price to barca until they officially tell us they’re interested.

The reason why Barca seem in control of this situation is that they talk to the press so much in an attempt to unsettle the player and club before they make an official bid. Surely this must amount to tapping up a player under contract even if they haven’t actually had any face to face meeting with Cesc. Cesc wouldn’t have told Arsenal he wants to leave (if he did) unless he knew barca wanted him and by telling the press that they do want him Barca let the player know without having spoken to him directly. This is surely just as bad as meeting for a coffee in milan and telling the player they want him and to ask for a transfer.

Id love it if Arsenal had some bollocks on them & come out and said to Barstardona ‘pay up or f**k off)

    But they haven’t.

We all know what will happen, they will sell ‘undisclosed fee’ before the World Cup but after 1st June, when the accounts come out next year it will show that we vastly undersold the player & are yet to receive the money.

And when the next Arsenal star comes along, they will employ the same tactics to prise him away from us regardless if he has just signed a new contract or not, because they know our board will cave in to them.

And f**k feeling sorry for a poor player being told to stay at a club that he was happy to sign a contract extension only 4 months ago.

I bet the £200K Fabregas has earned off Arsenal since the whole saga kicked off is really causing him sleepless nights.Not.

if they desperately need him that urgently then they should pay any amount to get him , just like madrid did for cristano ronaldo, or should agree on any price they come up with all because we want to respect the players wish?? sorry but if its true that Cesc Dad said all this things then he is stupid for that. Cesc is really a value for money. if u need then pay and stop offering players in exchange. and i think that 50 million is a good price for his sale , sinve adebaryor was sold for 25 mil, i think my price is good.

Arsenal never comment on transfer speculation until a deal is done.
Realistically, i believe that the two clubs have been speaking the whole time.
Barca have said that they will respect Arsenal in the transfer dealings and this means that they are keeping quiet because thats how arsenal want to do business.
Fabregas will probably sell for 35m but they are not likely to disclose the price because Arsenal like to work this way.

I have some news for all Arsenal fans!

According to a well informed source, Lionel Messi has been involved with a bust-up with Pep Guardiola after Barcelona were crowned La Liga champions. It is reported that Messi got so frustrated after winning only one trophy this season, that too in the last league match, he launched a tirade at Guardiola.

Several Barca players were reportedly unhappy with Messi over his conduct and they have demanded an apology from him, which he has refused to give. Later, Messi stormed out of a scheduled meeting with the Board members and he has reportedly handed in a transfer request, with his favoured destination being Arsenal(he still remembers the ‘respect’ the Arsenal players gave him when they met in the Champions League).

It is reported that Barca are keen on a player-plus-cash deal for the second season running by offering Messi and a tiny sum of about 400 million pounds for Cesc(who can then leave Barcelona for Arsenal, for free of course, if he does not score 100 goals in his debut season).

Arsene Wenger has, as usual, been tight lipped over the affair but it has also been reported that Messi and Barca have contacted him.

F.C. BARCELONA CAN OFFICIALLY F**K OFF!!!

    HAPPY DAY GUNNERS!!!

Im aware of the slight loop hole in my theory db10 but it isn’t like there has been no contact or at the very least no very public secret disclosure of the price Barca are willing to pay.Barca and Spanish clubs use the media to do it’s bidding to try and protect themselves and that is fine up until the point where they come out and say they wish to buy a player long before having the decency to speak to the club.Barca have used their own players to unsettle Fab4 as well as using the guy for presidential elections and the really funny thing is they don’t even value him that highly (if you believe the price reported ).You don’t have to shop up at the showroom to know a brand new BMW isn’t going to cost £2000 do you?

I do however get that until they actually make a formal offer we can’t refuse it as being too low, but anybody that has kept upto date with this and previous transfers know that it is likely they are offering the low figure of 30m – 40m, we also know that is not going to be enough. They believe the longer they leave it the more likely we are to do a deal, wrong!.The longer it is left the less likely do to not being able to spend the money on a replacement.Unless we assume the money would not be reinvested in the team?, quite possible unfortunately

And they don’t like to disclose how much money they’ve sold a player off because they don’t want the ‘customers’ to know.

That said,if he wiped his mouth & signed a decent goalkeeper & at least one CB, that would go a huge way in my eyes that he has seen the weakness to his plans and addressed them.

Honestly, gunners, I’m sea as to where and when to place a marker on Cesc’s performances the season just ended;where do I begin to evaluate when he was playing himself into Barca’s hands and his loyalty to Arsenal, repeated crest-kissing and air-pumping notwithstanding? At what point can we say he wasn’t saying what he really felt with the club’s performances and situation? What point did his ‘head turn’ towards Barca; last season? CL first leg against them, end of another trophyless season? At what point did Cesc lose confidence in Wenger and his rhetorics and began to disagree, perhaps inwardly, that a 3rd place finish and 13 CL qualifications are no ‘trophies’? These are difficult things to know…really, I love him but did he ‘give up’ on us?

Then, Cesc has been quoted as saying he wants the future resolved b4 the WC and now his dad has said similar things…wait up here, am I missing something?

Should both son and father not be putting pressure on Barcalosers to come up with the money for his services? Shouldn’t a father teach his 23-yr old what it means to honour a contract? Shouldn’t Arsenal set a deadline for bidding so that if the Spaniards eventually come up with the money (80m pounds or no deal)we can still get a replacement on time?

I hope this deal is done as fast as possible so that we can move on with our lives. Barca should just cough out 50million pounds and we are home and cool. I am truely tired of all this talk here and there.
It is also a shame that Arsenal board are very feble and ill. Yes i said so because Arsenal is the only club where things like this can happen and you will not get a responses or comment from those that are suppose to be our voice. Arsenal is the only where a coach will have injured players everywhere and yet fail to replace them when the opportunity comes begging. Remember we had the oportunity to buy Alonso, given etc but what did we do? Waiting for our injured prayers to recover.Arsenal is the only club where the fans give so much and get nothing in return.Arsenal is the only club that will sell their star players and replace them with unknown and absolutely young players. Arsenal is the only club that have little or no budget for new players but will continuely fight for top position in EPL and CL…………….what a footbal club!!!!!!

    I’ve got some direct quotes:
Francesc Snr. – “Negotiations between Arsenal and Barcelona will be very long,” he told Radio Marca.

“Cesc is now concentrated on the national team, but he wants the closure of the signing soon.

“I’m not sure how this will end, but I think they must respect the decision and will of the player.”

Txiki Begiristain at David Villa’s unveiling press conferencec – “As he has the will to return, we contacted Arsenal to ask them if they are ready to negotiate. We are waiting for an answer,” Begiristain said.

“The player has shown his will to come to Barca, but we will not do anything until Arsenal want to negotiate.”

These were broadcast in situations where they were actually speaking for people to hear like on radio and tv, not as a third person talking to a journalist.

Why (and how) would the press just make up quotes that originate from press conferences or radio shows? If they did they would all have to agree on what they were going to say (because presumably more than one person would have heard it). And they would get sued repeatedly if they quoted (with quotation marks) somebody when that person hadn’t actually said anything.

They don’t need him. If it’s true that Pep visited Cesc during his rehab, Pep told him this was his last season and Fab realized it’s now or never to realize his dream.

I think we are missing the crux of the issue… Wenger’s arsenal is dead on the inside. Fab has given up because he no longer believes. What does this say about Arsene’s master plan and his choice of captain? The king is dead…

It will sap the already soft confidence of the other players, and when Wenger the Arsehole refuses to sign a keeper this summer, it will surely be the end of our string of “highly succesful” top four finishes.

    Wenger, out.

This story has been running for about three seasons now.

Throughout that time Fabregas has repeatedly stated how much he “loves” Arsenal, how happy he is to be an Arsenal player, how happy he is to sign a new four year contract on £120,000 per week and accept a back-dated wage rise.

No amount of “badge kissing” can disguise the fact that his loyalty to Arsenal Football Club and Arsenal supporters extends no further than the bottom line of his bank balance.

It is quite clear that the player has been working towards a transfer to Barcelona throughout this season. The constant drip drip drip of comments to the media, instantly denied by him, have been designed to engineer the present situation.

If he has a shred of integrity he should publicly request a transfer, repay the obscene sum of money paid to him in his back-dated pay rise and tell Barcelona to meet the price demanded by Arsenal.

If Barca either can’t or won’t meet the asking price then offer him to Real Madrid as I, for one, will be glad to see the back of this disloyal money-grubbing individual.

Finally in answer to Remi’s question, emphatically not!

    @ Guildford

Just for the record, The Arsenal statement, (as taken from the Arsenal.com webite) reads:-

“We have followed recent speculation linking Cesc with a move away from the club but as there has never been any official approach for him, only two informal exchanges, in which we made it abundantly clear that we have no interest in transferring Cesc, we have refrained from publicly passing comment.

“However, yesterday (Monday) evening we received an offer from Barcelona for Cesc and in response, we immediately and resolutely told them once again that we have no intention of selling our captain.

“To be clear, we will not make any kind of counterproposal or enter into any discussion. Barcelona have publicly stated that they will respect our position and we expect that they will keep their word.”

Now, this is NOT speculation or gossip that you seem to have been taking for gospel, and is pretty much what i was expecting.

I suggest you read that again, especially the third paragraph, (you DO know what a paragraph is, right?) then go back and read each and every one of your illogical, ill founded and irrelevant comments on this “article” before you call anyone a “poor deluded, naive, blinkered boy.”

So,bite your lip as I am,theres a good chap & ignore the bile you are tempted to unleash. Its only cyberspace afterall.

Now,I’ve read that statements several times already so I don’t need to read it again & I liked it, I thought, good about time to,thats the response we needed to put to those tossers in Spain & indeed to the media over here. Its worded well & actual makes me believe that it would take something special for Cesc to go to Barca this summer, ie he hands in a transfer request, as I do not believe for one minute Wenger would force him to stay.

But my opening question to your insult was – Why?

So, I ask again, WHY? Why should I apologise or feel ‘retarded’ as you put it?

Comments from “Guildford” in this thread:-

“Awful, stuck in the dark ages, weak, victimised, lame ,pathetic, amate ur. Just some of the words I could use to describe the management team at Arsenal.”

“I’m not giving this club my season ticket money to sit in a lifeless concrete bowl, half full of pricks like you that I’ve got nothing in common with.”

“We all know what will happen, they will sell ‘undisclosed fee’ before the World Cup but after 1st June, when the accounts come out next year it will show that we vastly undersold the player & are yet to receive the money.”

“And f**k feeling sorry for a poor player being told to stay at a club that he was happy to sign a contract extension only 4 months ago.

I bet the £200K Fabregas has earned off Arsenal since the whole saga kicked off is really causing him sleepless nights.Not.”

Big opinions from someone who knew absolutely nothing of the facts.

You’ve managed to insult the Club, it’s Captain, and the Management AND the fans as well, and you don’t think that in itself deserves an apology?

But to make it worse, all this vitriol was poured out because you believed the garbage spewed by people with a vested interest in controversy, and attempted to belittle myself and others who tried to point out your folly, and THAT is why you should feel “retarded” as I put it.

Sorry that I don’t have the same opinions & views as you.

Do I think our club is well run? No. It’s not a shambles like some other clubs but it could & used to be run so much better.

Do I think that a lot of loyal Arseanl fans have turned their back on the club to be replaced for glory hunting cash cows, sorry, customers? Yes I do.

Do I think that Cesc wants to play for Barelona? Yes

Do I think that he will still end up leaving this summer? Not so sure now, wouldn’t be too surprised if he did. Time will tell of course.

Do I think Cesc should be captain? No,his actions are not that of a captain.

Do I think that you might be retarded? No.

Do I think that you might be blinkered?
    Without a doubt.
