Has Elvis left the Emirates?

emirates14

By CARL ELDRIDGE Elvis has left the building. Make that the Emirates. For we are led to believe that the club have binned the king of rock and roll and his Wonder Of You as the song the team run out to, preferring to revert to Fat Boy Slim’s Right Here, Right Now. What about Good Old Arsenal? We shall see…

Cesc Fabregas is in line to face Blackpool today as the Arsenal test their mettle against the Premier League new boys.

Ian Holloway’s underdogs stunned top flight observers in their opening day encounter at Wigan with a stunning 4-0 win.

The visit of the Tangerines in such bouyant mood brings back memories of Hull City coming to the Emirates early on a couple of seasons ago. They beat us that day and we must hope Blackpool don’t follow suit. In players such as Marlon Harewood and Gary Taylor-Fletcher they certainly have firepower. The latter once plied his trade at Northwich Victoria earning 300 quid a week.

With Fabregas fit and RVP also in contention you would like to think we have enough to see off this lot even with their admirable attitude and comical but capable manager.

We’re missing Laurent Koscielny in central defence after his ludicrous sending off in last week’s 1-1 draw up at Liverpool. Either Alex Song or, if he is fit, Johann Djourou could fill in. Also out is Samir Nasri with a knee injury.

One thing is for sure and that is that we need a better display from Andrey Arshavin than his efforts at Anfield. Will Theo feature? Can Jack Wilshere retain his place in the starting line-up? Can Marouanne Chamakh form a partnership with RVP?

We’ll find out when 3pm comes around and the mighty Gunners take to the pitch once again. COYG!

A walk in the park, Theo with a hat-trick, Arshavin, Diaby and Chamakh. A bit of the killer instinct at last!!

    Can’t expect more than that!

    Go Go Gunners.

JIN your optimism is contagious :-?
We need managers like Holloway and Coyle, not the money changers in Manchester, Chelsea and their like.
One player in Citeh earns in a week what Blackpool pay their First Team XI (if not the 25 max allowed).
A good day for the Gunners BUT bad for football in general.

“Right here Right Now” is used by ManCity. And why that song? I like it, but what means for Arsenal?

I prefer the song that is used in the games of our kids, Teenage Kicks.

My choices will be: Time for Heroes of The Libertines, Children of The Revolution of T Rex, Kids of MGMT and Light and Day of The Polyphonic Spree. Those are the songs that always bring Arsenal to my mind.

I am happpy the song isn’t Elvis – it never really felt appropriate. I like high tempo, adrenaline tracks to get the guys going.
