Arsenal’s Five Star Performance

Cesc-F-brega-006

Arsenal maintained their perfect start to their Champions League Group H campaign with a resounding 5-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk at the Emirates Stadium.

Alex Song took advantage of a goalkeeping gaffe to hand Arsene Wenger’s side the lead on 19 minutes before the impressive Samir Nasri doubled their lead just before the break.

Cesc Fabregas netted from the penalty spot on the hour mark before two goals in the space of three minutes from Jack Wilshere and Marouane Chamakh sank any hope the Ukrainian champions held of getting back in the game.

Former Arsenal striker Eduardo made an emotional return to his old stomping ground as a second half substitute, and the Croatia international fittingly found the net on 82 minutes, although it was nothing more than a consolation for the visitors.

Arsenal continue to lead Group H with nine points, with a goal difference of plus-12 and the goals for column reading 14. Shakhtar, meanwhile, remain in second on six points.

It’s also worth noting that we’ve broken the record for most goals scored in the first three games.

Great win! We played great until our 3 subs. I’m not saying they weren’t good subs, I thought there were strategically perfect for preserving Cesc and Samir and I Walcott was coming back from injury for the first time so expected nothing from him. Its just that I don’t remember seeing Arshavin make a single sprint. Silly little apathetic Russian! Hopefully he’s in the mood this weekend.

I wouldn’t call it a 5 star performance of AFC but 4 1/2 stars. 5 star game and it was good for us to see Eddy score but… Eddy scored for them!!! and thus we gotta be concerned about giving up a goal… again!
