Time to call the Toon, Theo

TheoTheo_stills-016

by CARL ELDRIDGE Theo Walcott and Nik Bendtner get the chance to get their seasons back on track in tonight’s Carling Cup game at Newcastle. In this brave new world, in which AW admits we are actually trying to win the trophy, we will feature enough players with first team pedigree to expect to make a decent fist of it at St James Park. Let us not forget, however, that the Toon dumped Chelsea out of the competition in the previous round.

As you would expect, AW is realistic about the clash. He said: “We are not in the final yet, we have a long way to go. When you go to Newcastle you as well have to be realistic. That’s why I repeat we play with a good team and we do our best. Newcastle are competitive. They have a good mixture between physical power, technical level and spirit. That is why they will be a dangerous side for everybody.

“It is important that we go into the game and think we want to qualify, also we want to produce a great performance because the Chelsea game has shown that you don’t get away with an average performance against Newcastle.”

Also in the frame tonight are Carlos Vela, Kieran Gibbs and Laurent Koscielny as well as Craig Eastmond, Henri Lansbury and JET and AW says that whatever side he picks, the new cup-hungry mantra remains. He added: “I said to the players ‘we will go for everything we can, as simple as that’, and not really specify one more than the other one, that is why I believe we are on a good run and we want to keep that going,” Wenger said.

“It is important to keep it moving no matter what competition it is, that is what we want to do. We are doing well in the Champions League and we have done well so far in the Carling Cup and we are back on track in the championship, so it is just all movement. I believe we have a squad good enough to go forward with trophies, that’s why I think ‘ok let’s go as far as we can’.

“If needed we can still always choose later, but at the moment it is important for everybody to think we go for everything we can.”

Give to them, Arsenal.

There ave been enough upsets already this season to convince the players that there are no easy matches.

I don’t give a stuff for not showing other teams “respect”. The players should “respect” Arsenal Football Club, it’s supporters and themselves by giving 100% in every match.

Arsene should put up a great big notice in the dressing room.

Arsenal has a fantastic suqad; we are able to put out at least 3 teams with internationals all around (except Almunia).
There is no reason not to rotate the big squad we have and as Arsenal sent in around 70 players for both the PL and CL, we can in every game play experienced players with 1 or 2 younger, inexperienced players scattered around.
Our squad is very young but because of AW’s policy and success in the cups, most of them has lots of experience. We can field a team of 23 or younger that can beat any team in PL…

I think you’ll find that the Chav result disproves your last sentence. Get realistic.
