Samir Nasri has paid Arsenal team-mate Jack Wilshere perhaps the biggest compliment of all…that he reminds him of himself when he was younger.
Wilshere is thought of as one of the most exciting young players at Arsenal and in England, just as Nasri was when he made his breakthrough as a youngster for Marseille.
Wilshere’s form this season could see him start to play a major role for England, and Three Lions boss Fabio Capello is thought to be keen on giving him a start in midfield in their midweek friendly against Denmark.
Nasri says he has enjoyed playing with the 19-year-old at Arsenal this season, and believes he has the character to make the step up to international football without any trouble.
“I like Jack as a player, he is never scared,” Nasri said. “I like his attitude and he reminds me a bit of me when I was younger. He is a great, great, great prospect.
“I have a lot of respect for Jack because he is a really talented player.
“He plays with guts as you say in England. I like him as a player because he always tries to play forward
“Some players when they play can be under pressure but him, he’s not scared.”
Theo Walcott has also had the pleasure of playing with Wilshere this season, and has also tipped him to make an impression for England this week.
Walcott said: “He has got confidence, is playing week in and week out for Arsenal with no fear. Jack is gifted in his left foot and is an absolute dream to play with.
“If he gets the chance I am sure he will grab it with both hands.”
