Arsene Wenger has never been a big fan of International friendlies – and rightly so. It seems that at least one member of our ever-delicate side, always picks up an injury, whilst away on International duty. But thankfully, for once, it appears that our side has no new fresh injury concerns.
Wenger will be a very happy man today, as he now has the ability to pick from an unharmed squad, for this Saturday’s game against Wolves.
Read on for a brief summary of how our boys got on for their respective countries.
Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere both played impressively well for England in a 2-1 away win against Denmark, in Copenhagen. Nicklas Bendter also started for The Danes.
Despite suffering a late-injury scare, Bacary Sagna played the full 90 minutes for France in their impressive home 1-0 win against Brazil, in Paris. Abou Diaby also came off the bench in the second half. Gael Clichy and Laurent Koscielny were un-used substitutes for Les Bleus.
Tomas Rosicky scored for the Czech Republic, but that wasn’t enough to prevent his side from losing. Croatia won 4-2 in a game that saw ex-Arsenal forward Eduardo scoring the opener.
Andrei Arshavin played in a disappointing Russian side, that were beaten by Iran 1-0.
Morocco beat Niger 3-0, in a very comfortable manner. Marouane Chamakh played, but missed a sitter from just 5 yards out.
Emmanuel Eboue also started for the Ivory Coast, in their 3-0 win against Mali.
Wojciech Szczesny was also given a chance to step up, as he started for Poland in goal. He kept an impressive clean sheet in their 1-0 win against Norway.
