Cesc Fabregas says he is pleased with the current run the team is on, and believes Arsenal can take this confidence all the way to Champions League glory.
Arsenal have been in brilliant form since the New Year, booking a place in the Carling Cup final and now beating the mighty Barcelona.
Arsenal were widely tipped to be thrashed by Spain’s champions, but produced a late comeback from 1-0 down to win 2-1 and take a narrow advantage to the second leg at the Nou Camp in three weeks.
Fabregas enjoyed being a part of such a great game and a big victory, saying: “It’s a massive victory. For me it’s the best game I’ve experienced in terms of quality and intensity. They had the ball, they went for it. We had the ball, we went for it. For me, I’ve never experienced a game with so much quality on the pitch from both teams.
“It was the right result and it was definitely uplifting. We are in the Final of the Carling Cup, we have the FA Cup coming on Sunday and two games coming up before the second leg. I’m hoping this will be good for the team because since the New Year we haven’t lost any games.
“Apart from the disappointment against Newcastle we’ve won everything. At the moment we’re on a good run and we want to keep it going.”
“The second leg will be very difficult and we have to perform very well,” he said. “They will go out to win and we want to attack. You never know what can happen in this type of game. We will have to play
our hearts out.
“But we want to prove we can win a trophy like this one. There are 90 minutes to go and we’re playing against a big team. If you want to beat them you have to give everything.”
