Cesc Fabregas reckons our thrilling 2-1 triumph over Barcelona in the Champions League was the best game he has ever played in. Cesc has been speaking after goals from RVP and AA23 gave us a fighting chance in the Nou Camp in a few weeks for the second leg.
He said: “It is a massive victory. For me, this is the best game I’ve ever experienced on the pitch, in terms of quality and in terms of intensity. They had the ball and they went for it. We had the ball and we went for it. I’ve never been on the pitch and experienced a game with so much quality by both teams. And, of course, it was with the right result, as we won. We played with a lot of heart, with intelligence, with passion — and that made the difference at the end. It is not every day you beat the best team in history.”
Cesc says he is looking forward to returning to the Catalan capital for the ‘second-half’ of the showdown – remember he missed out last season through injury. He added: “It is a special dream to play at the Nou Camp and I’ll enjoy it, but the important thing is that Arsenal go through. It is not finished by any means and it is better to be 2-1 up than 0-1 down, but they scored a goal, which we didn’t want. It will be very difficult but I have a good feeling if everyone stays fit and there are no injuries like last year. This is fundamental.”
Cesc has added that he won’t speculate about his future but wants to concentrate on our season and the four comps we are still in. “My future is the last thing in my mind. I think I’m showing I am committed to this club and we want to do great things. To talk about what will happen next season or in two, three or four years is the last thing I want to do.”
So we move from Barca to Orient in the FA Cup on Sunday – that’s the beauty of football. Any tips for decent boozers at Brisbane Road, folks?
