Wenger: We may sign new keeper

Arsene Wenger has spoken about the defeat against Barca in the Champions League and revealed we may sign a keeper as emergency cover with Wojciech Szczesny sidelined for six weeks with his finger injury.
AW is after back up for Manuel Almunia, with fellow keeper Lukasz Fabianski already out for the rest of the season. Vito Mannone could be recalled from his loan spell at Hull while James Shea is back from a loan spell at Southampton.
The boss is adamant he got his tactics right in the 3-1 loss in the Nou Camp. He said: “You do not see often Arsenal not having one single shot on goal and, of course, that was our biggest problem but that would not have happened had we stayed 11 vs 11, believe me. We had already given a lot and to be down to 10 men, the referee knew exactly at that moment in time – and I knew – exactly what would happen: in the last 20 minutes it will be too difficult.
“That we have lost against a very strong team, nobody would deny that. But most of the time, Champions League games are decided in the last five minutes. We had another example when Bendtner could have scored for 3-2 and they would have been out. It was never our intention to stay in our half. You look at the speed with which we lost the ball. People can say what they want.
“If I had played two full-backs on each flank in midfield you could say: ‘OK, they just wanted to defend.’ But we played Rosicky, Nasri, Fabregas, Wilshere, Van Persie and Diaby. Not one defensive player. How can people think I said to the players: ‘Just stay in our half and wait?’ I was absolutely wanting to get in their half and play, but we didn’t manage to get out.
“In the last month we have lost the Carling Cup final and gone out of the Champions League, so if you had a global view of the last three months you had every reason to be optimistic. I’ve said since the start of the season that we will go for all of the competitions. We’ve got two left. We need to keep the right attitude to turn the luck around on our side a little bit.”
Meanwhile, Cesc Fabregas will miss the trip to Old Trafford and is out for two weeks with hamstring problems. Robin van Persie is available, but Alex Song and Theo Walcott are still out crocked.
