May I suggest that the powerbrokers at Arsenal consider a season ticket price hike very carefully. VERY carefully. For I am getting more and more fans tell me that they won’t renew their tickets if the club raise the prices by a signifcant amount, such as they have the 6.5 per cent for club level seats.
The supporters will have every right to revolt if we go another year without a trophy (but will be queuing round the block if we win the league). Voting with your feet has long been the way to protest and mates of mine, some loyal AW fans starting to voice criticism of our leader’s mental state, are already saying they will cherry-pick their games next season rather than commit to a season ticket at inflated prices.
Celeb Gooner Frank Warren has voiced his concern at the price rise and his comments are carried in the Mail today.
The paper says boxing promoter Warren is one of many Arsenal box holders upset that prices are going up – plus the rise in VAT. Warren, said to be Arsenal’s longest serving box holder, said: “I’ve kept my boxing tickets for the big shows at the same price for two years because of the economy and Arsenal should do the same, especially as they haven’t won anything for six years. The food isn’t worth it either.”
So, tonight we can salvage our season and give ourselves a fighting chance of the title if we can manage to beat the team that dare not speak its name. United only drawing at the Geordies last night gives us a glimmer of hope but it is only that. And given the poor displays of late, worryingly devoid of goal threat apart from at Blackpool, you wouldn’t bet on us would you?
Ho hum. See you in the British Queen for a quick pint before the game. Bring your crash helmets.
