Arsene Wenger reckons we still have a chance of winning the Premier League despite the draw at the pit last night. We blew a 3-1 lead against the north London ne’redowells giving us our fourth draw in the the last five matches. Wenger was still upbeat after the game and Cheslea sneakled into second place with a 3-1 win over Brum.
AW said: “The title race is completely open. We have to get ready for our next game and fight, as we do. This team has a remarkable attitude, they are remarkably consistent. It is open, it is down to us to keep battling.
“It was a difficult game, with an average performance we would have not have gone away with a point. We are on a 16-game run unbeaten, but recently we didn’t get enough points with too many draws. That is what we want to turn by the end of the season.
“Even though we were 3-1 up the game was not won, but it is not all negative because, after what happened to us on Sunday, to recover and come back with such a spirit I believe shows this team has an outstanding mentality.”
Meanwhile, our former boss George Graham says this current Arsenal side ‘isn’t half as good’ as the famous invincibles side of 2004. Graham said: “If you look at all of Arsenal’s centre-backs, they’re all nice players, they’re not 6ft 4in and physical.
“If you look at the English game, Chelsea have got Terry, Manchester United have got Vidic, you need a bit of physical presence and strong players as well as the cultured ones.”
“I think Arsene Wenger is going for cultured technical players right through the team without any power powers, someone like Vieira in midfield. Van Persie is a world class finisher but you can’t compare that forward line with Henry, Bergkamp, Pires, he was to look back at the invincibles and say ‘can I make another team like that one’. I don’t think the one that he’s got is half as good as that one.”
Not rocket or indeed science, is it George?
