Arsene Wenger has vowed to persuade Samir Nasri to sign a new contract amidst fears the France star could quit the Emirates. Nasri has just one year remaining on his current deal and could walk away from the club at the end of next season of a free transfer.
AW would never let that happen and would be forced to flog him at the end of this campaign in order to bring in some cash and start his rebuilding. Nasri, 23, has apparently been offered a contract worth £80,000-a-week, but the midfielder has yet to put pen to paper. AW said: “The fast target is not to weaken our team but to strengthen it. We are hopeful but we will do it at the end of the season.
“I will do anything possible to make him stay, but I never speak about the conversations I have with the players. We will always have to respect our wages schedule. Financial Fair Play will come in, and because I know Chelsea and Man City has voted for it, I hope as well they will respect it.”
Meanwhile, tabloid reports this morning suggest AW is confident of holding onto Cesc Fabregas despite continued interest from Barca. But rumours persist we are ready to sell AA23 while the futures of Nik Bendtner, Abou Diaby Denilson, Gael Clichy, Carlos Vela, Emmanuel Eboue and Manuel Almunia remain in the balance.
There will be lots of speculation concerning our summer targets but one who will not be coming to the Arsena is Scott Parker, who, I have been told, will move to the team that dare not speak its name if West Ham are relegated.
