It’s not all doom and gloom: Rosicky wants Arsenal stay

rosicky

In these most desperate of times, with Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy all looking set to leave, possibly to join our rivals, Arsenal have been handed a major boost by one star player at least.

Despite numerous offers from big clubs all over Europe (names escape me just at this moment), the all-action Czech midfielder says he wants to achieve things with the Gunners.

After claiming an assist in the FA Cup against the mighty Leyton Orient last season, one wonders what there might be left for this man to achieve, but the 30-year-old says he does not want to slow down.

He explained: “I don’t want to go somewhere where I would have it easier and where even the ordinary life would be easier for me.

“I want to achieve something with Arsenal. On Monday, I am starting pre-season with Arsenal.

“Before vacation I was speaking with coach Wenger and he told me he counted on my services and that there was no intention of selling me.”

In all seriousness, why are we more than happy to sell our biggest names every season, without ever getting rid of the likes of this useless sicknote? Instead of taking in £30million or so and putting it in the bank, why can’t we maybe raise a bit from the combined sales of one or two players like Rosicky, Eboue, Denilson, Diaby and Bendtner and spend the money on some improvements to come in and compete with the first choice players, who currently face no competition for their places?

But that’s just one of many questions for this club at the moment.

I'm 23-years-old and currently living in Bristol, studying to be a journalist. I've been hooked on Arsenal since I was about 10, and as much as I sometimes wish I could stop, I can't give them up. Favourite player of all time would have to be Patrick Vieira for the sheer passion with which he played the game.

We can’t sell the deadwood because their wages are too high.

Whatever Wenger bases keeping on or getting rid of players, it’s clearly not performances on the pitch.

This headline is presumably a joke.

There are three priorities for Arsenal this summer.

    1. Keep their top players.
    2. Recruit some world class talent.
    3. Get rid of the dead wood. The four players in the squad who can truly be called dead wood are Almunia, Denilson, Vela and…….Rosicky. So this headline is anything but a boost. It is another signe of a club whw can, at present, do nothing right except increase the value of its shares, thereby keeping shareholders happy.

because we are a fucking joke that’s why. i noticed one site on newsnow running a story on us being interested in john o’shea a la silvestre 3 years ago. i thought it was a sick joke only to go to bbc football gossip page and see that the daily mirror are linking us with him. the board/wenger’s favourite words = cheap alternative.

Give the guy a break, he came back last year after a long absence so you cannot judge him yet. This year with a season under his belt and a good preseason he will be a good squad player. Personally i think he is a decent player if he can stay fit. Nasri has only played half a season for us so far since he has come and when the going got tough he disappeared. To me Nasri is replacable, he is a good player no doubt but we need winners who will spur the team on when we are down. We will miss Fabregas though he is class.

LOL I was being sarcastic, but the way it’s going he might be the only new signing we make. Oh to be an Arsenal supporter.
    @ Gonerz
Just sell Denilson and Almunia because they doen’t serve a purpose anymore but Vela hasn’t been given a decent run in the team.

Which season was that he’s got under his belt? He only played in a handful of games and I don’t think he completed a single one of them.

I’m willing to bet that he and Diaby don’t make through pre-season without picking up an injury.

Sell the deadwood or even give them away to get them off the payroll and make room for a few new quality signings.

Treat all the reports with the contempt that they deserve.

Don’t blame Wenger because a swarm of tabloid hacks persist in making up stories to fill their quotas.

    Wait and see!

I agree to an extent John about the media wanting stories to sell papers but Wenger and the board haven’t helped their cause over the last 5 years to suggest any different will happen this summer. What Arsenal need is a fresh face in charge with different ideas, it is time for a change nothing lasts forever not even Wenger.

Why do people accuse the papers of making up stories when theres actual quotes. I hate the media as much as the next man but when theres quotes your gonna have to accept its probably true.
If Rosicky stays I think im going to protest, I can’ think of a player except a Eboue a few seasons ago that pissed me of so much just by watching him be useless, he can’t shoot, he can’t pass further than 10 yards without giving the ball away hes best attribute atm is probably his tackling and his meant to be an attacking midfielder.
If he and Denilson stay surely thats enough to convince people Wenger should go.

How many of the “quotes” turn out to true? Most are snippets from interviews which are taken completely out of context and spun into headlines.

Sorry but you seem to be a little naive in believing what you read in the papers.

We can’t get rid of the players that you mention for 2 reasons: 1 nobody wants them becasue they are dross and 2 they are on wages which no-one other than Wenger would pay them.

When I read most posts on Arsenal these days, it seems like we were relegated instead of in the CL…

10-4-12-5-3-1-2-2-2-1-2-1-2-4-4-3-4-3-4 (Arsenal´s league position in EPL)

In AW´s first season, we got third; in fact, he has ensured a league position equal to or better than what was achieved by Arsenal in the EPL before him every single season.

There is a reason why this is called silly season. I get frustrated at all the rumours and if we were to believe all, every team will buy and sell a couple of teams this summer. That´s why I will wait until it is confirmed on Arsenal.com before having an opinion.

My wish for the summer is that Arsenal is not seen as a selling club. We were told that we needed to move from Highbury to be able to compete with the biggest clubs. Well, the financial side seems to be pretty solid, a number of years have passed and we´re still afraid of who we will be losing instead of who we are buying. The difference to ManU is obvious. ManC and Chelsea are on steroids and do not count.

Rosicky is not only uncomplaining, about sitting on the bench, he’s happy to do so and collect his £50,000 a week for doing f*** all.

according to this, Diaby will miss part of pre season due to an operation on his ankle!

So you’ve already got one prediction correct a month before pre-season starts!

There comes a time when it is right to look at the squad and decide whether to keep certain players or move them on. That time is now.

It is reported, and I don’t know whether the reports are true or not, that Bendtner is wanted by one or two clubs but the asking price is too high, if this is the case it surely makes sense to drop the price in order to get the player off of the wage bill. The same must apply to the rest of the players perceived to be “deadwood”.

Put them up for sale at a reasonable price, give them a chance to build a career elsewhere and free up the money spent on their wages in order to attract better players.

Remember….£50,000 a week is TWO MILLION SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND POUNDS A YEAR.

All the rubbish players want to stay: Rocisky, Vela, Squillachi, Asharvin and apparently the rubbish manager wants to hang on to them. Big changes are required at Arsenal. Silent Stan should sell to someone interested in winning trophies and leave with his octogenarian board and manager. The club needs to turn a new page. We have been reading from the same boring page for six long barren years. It’s time for change!!

Sadly Rosicky is a shadow of the player he was when he first joined us.

Still think one of the main reasons we lost title in 07/08 was his injury in the latter part of the season and the goals from midfield dried up.
