Arshavin: I want to win silverware at Arsenal

Andrey Arshavin has pledged his future to Arsenal and declared that he his desperate to help Arsene Wenger end the six years with out a trophy for the Gunners.

Russian attacker Arshavin displayed moments of sheer class and periods of sulky indifference last season and it was rumoureed that he would be on his bike this summer with former outfit Zenit said to be leading the chase. But it seems he is staying in north London.

But answering questions on his own website, AA23 has admitted he is still up for chasing silverware at the Emirates. Bizarrely, he has also admitted to being spiteful.

He was asked: “I wanted to ask you whether it is true that you want to leave Arsenal? And is it true that you are spiteful? And answered: “I am an Arsenal player. And I still want to win trophies with this club. Spiteful? I can be spiteful sometimes.”

The Mail this morning says AW has been denied by FIFA the chance to use goal-line technology in this weekend’s Emirates Cup. The paper says he is a big fan of putting technology to the test but the move has been blocked.

He said: “You want it so you have a better chance to make the right decisions. You know it could be a help for the referees. The more help they get, the more decisions they get right. If out of 100 decisions they get 95 right instead of 85, you have to use technology. And I would like to use it for more than goal-line decisions, but it’s a first step.

“I think FIFA do not want to start to have a different set of rules for it here and there and I can understand that. But the good news is they are open to it and it looks like in the next World Cup we will have it.” The same paper claims that we are weighing up a move for Wigan midfielder James McCarthy. a report suggests AW made an enquiry about the 20-year-old earlier in the summer, but was told he was not for sale.

The Metro says Valencia president Manuel Llorente insists Arsenal (and others), are wasting their time in pursuing midfielder Juan Mata, who they say is not for sale at any price.

If Arshavin wants to win anything at Arsenal, then he will have to double his own work-rate and get his head around the fact that he needs to track back and help out in defence. Also he needs to get up off his a*** when he loses the ball and not sit around looking aggrieved.

    Message to Arshavin :

Well if you want to stay at Arsenal and ” win silverware ” either you have to learn to work the left flank or convince Wenger to select you where you can play.

Like a few others you were really good till having to play to suit Wenger’s inflexible formation. Reyes, Wiltord, Bendtner, (Walcott). He loves to play central strikers out wide … where they are not much good.

he should be played down the middle.solves all problems, its his favoured position, he has a killer shot, and he doesnt leave gibbs one on two.given free range as an attacking midfielder he will wreak havoc!

fuck spiteful. admit to being pissed off when pissed on!!! Hey AA when the other team kick you in the air they are taking the piss. get up and kick the shit out of one of them. We know you can do it cause we have seen you show it in moments. Act like you are playing for Barca and defend like they defend!
Right position? Wrong position? Look if we are playing some sort of modern Total Football, then the lads should be shifting about all the time. We have seen AA inside and his run leading to 2nd goal against Barca is the perfect example of him showing his best, incisive movement and shot.
We will quickly know next season whether he has the bit between his teeth or not. and if not- then gone immediately.

I’m baffled as to why you got a negative response for that accurate statement JiN. He does appear lazy, consequently I believe this helped Clichy decide to leave, not saying HE was blameless but AA23 definitely heaped extra pressure on him.
