Mata on brink of signing for Arsenal from Valencia

national_newspapers_montage

Juan Mata is on the brink of signing for Arsenal from Valencia, so claim reports in the Spanish press this morning. Sports daily Marca carries a front page tale suggesting that the Spain winger is just a step away from joining the Gunners.

The mist likeley scenario if this is the case is that Cesc Fabregas is finally on his way out of the Emirates and will make the protracted switch to Barcelona any time soon. We shall see.*

Xavi, the Barcelona player who has some kind of Cesc Tourettes it would seem, has once again been spouting off depsite apologising last week for doing so. This time he said pretty much what he’s been saying all along that he can’t wait for his pal to join him. I won’t bore you with his musings.

Meanwhile, the Metro says Arsenal are monitoring the situation of Anderlecht’s Lucas Biglia, and could spring a shock bid before the end of the month.

AW’s  scouts are said to have been monitoring the Argentina midfielder, who has declared: “I think I have ended my cycle at Anderlecht and I want to do something new. The board know what I want to do. I know that playing for the Argentina national side means I get plenty of exposure and opens lots of doors.

“Sometimes I feel I have to do more because I am playing in Belgium. I am aware that it would be easier if I was playing in a different league.”

No… Please please please Arsene! Don’t let our beloved Cesc go.
He loves Arsenal and you can talk him into staying like you did last year.
Same goes for Samir who loves us too and i know our beloved Arsene will do all he can to keep them.

    In Arsene we trust!

Mata would be a great help in mid, we need players that will attack, he can play wing that will allow arsha to push through the middle of the park. We also need Cahill and I think Alex, 2 tough defenders!!!

You always title your articles with such definite claims! I would suggest that unless you have inside info, or their is an article on the matter by a respected website, blog or paper, not to give your articles misleading titles. Just a suggestion
Keep up the good work nevertheless

If we are indeed serious about Mata, then I hope Wenger starts the bidding a bit higher than his usual free weekend at a Calais b&b and an onion sellers beret! Maybe if we offered the asking price for once we could actually conclude a deal within a month. At our present rate we’d have difficulty concluding any deal before the end of the transfer window!

We are not tired! This is exactly what Barcelona are playing for: box everybody to the wall and get their man at a bargain. We will not yield.
My position: give them till end July and call off the deal if they don’t play.

Mata would be a fantastic addition, but I’m still hoping we sign a CB and a striker.

Wenger has already said that it will be down to Gibbs and Traore to fight it out for the left back spot and no new left back will be signed.

I actualy think that Gibbs is probably better than clichy and troare is about the same standard. The only thing clichy had in his favour was his lack of injuries and his experience. If someone tells Gibbs not to be so attacking (and he should watch sagna to learn how to position himself) then he will probably be much better than clichy and certainly no worse.

Surely the most relevant point, with Gibbs, is the injury problem.

Yes and we can only hope that it doesn’t continue. From memory, most of his injuries have been broken bones which is quite an unlucky thing rather than having persistent muscle problems or a problem with a particular joint, like Cesc and Diaby etc, which is a more serious problem.
