Fabregas set to give up £4m to quit Arsenal for Barcelona

Cesc Fabregas is ready to give up more than £4m in bonuses to secure a move to Barcelona, says the Mail this morning. The paper reports that it is the latest twist in the protracted saga of the Arsenal captain’s desire to return to the club he left at 16 amounts to an official transfer request.

It adds that the Arsenal Supporters’ Trust drew attention to the £4m clause in Fabregas’s contract last week and the player himself has now offered to give up his right to the money to make the deal easier for Arsenal to accept.  It could prove decisive, although Fabregas will still have to see if Barcelona raise their latest offer of £32m plus £5m in additional payments, rejected by Arsenal last week, it is claimed.

Meanwhile the Mirror says AW is expected to complete the signing of Southampton’s teenage sensation Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in a £12m deal this week and remain in contention to sign defenders Chris Samba and Gary Cahill. The same paper says Man City  remain confident of landing elder Samir Nasri.

Elsewhere AW has had his say on the 2-1 defeat to Benfica in a pre-season friendly last night. He said: “Benfica played well for the full 90 minutes and the second half was a bit one-way traffic. We played well for 45 minutes and, after that, we dropped. We missed many players and you could see that in the second half. We got the intensity we wanted, it was a competitive game and we were challenged by a good team who had a lot of experienced players.”

RVP was the subject of a horror tackle and was taken off ah half-time. Of our injured players AW added: “It is an ankle problem, I don’t know how bad it is. Gibbs has a muscular [thigh] problem and Vermaelen has a slight back problem.”

The People claim Arsenal want a£15million for Nicklas Bendtner and that the fee and the 23-year-old Dane’s demands for a £3m-a-year contract are putting off potential buyers.

Sounds very familiar from year. Start well but can’t finish well. Why has this not been addressed??
Just let the poor boy go home. There comes a point when you just have to say goodbye for the good of him.

If it is true that Fab is willing to give up 4 Mil then we should pass a plate around as he is so desperate to leave. Shame if true ‘cos he is a good lad who has been good for the club. Must be something else in it for him to want to go that much. What really happened behind the doors? What?

This should of been sorted in June he should of got rid of cesc and Nasri straight away. The way the have treated us as fans and arsenal football club is a disgrace and we should be allowed to sack them as you would in any other profession if your staff act so very badly

I am actually past caring whether Cesc & Nasri leave (think the latter was a 1/2 over-rated anyway). However this nonsense about letting Cesc go winds me up. He is an adult and signed his extension as such, if Barca pay up fine, if not then let him rot in the reserves unless happy that he will give his all (in his defence he is a professional & I believe would buckle down anyway).

    Please Cesc don’t leave us.
Without you we will not finish in the top 4 and i know deep down you truly love us and we love you.
Arsene will talk him and Nasri out of leaving because we have the best passing team in the league and the best young players in the world who will mature into the team we all believe they can be.
    In Arsene we trust.

Here’s the latest casualty list… Gibbs, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Diaby, Wilshire, Walcott, van Persie. We haven’t played a single competitive game yet and already the treatment room is bursting at the seams.

There must be something seriously wrong with the training regime, the medical satff, the players, or all of the above if so many injuries occur.

Panic not, Wenger is keeping some of them out of the international friendlies.

This is how bad things are getting, me and one or 2 others are asking why Bendtner is leaving the club. RVP, Walcott and Vela are all carrying knocks and Chamakh has to be in the worse run of form since Gordon Brown was managing the purse strings. Bendtner playing down the middle is currently our 2nd best option after RVP, yet he has not played 1 minute of our disastrous pre-season. We have not beaten any one of note, but more concerningly we have not managed a draw or a defeat to anyone of note either. Our best performanace was 40 minutes against Cologne.

I have been a Wenger supporter for many years, however, all good things come to an end and so do bad things too.

They have always said “if Wenger leaves we will lose our best players” WELL GUESS WHAT WE ARE LOSING OUR BEST PLAYERS AND WENGER IS STILL HERE.

Unfortunately, we are running out of time and targets to get the team right for Saturday, no decent players are going to be allowed to leave now.

We could be starting the season with this team

      Sczesney
      Sagna Djourou Squillaci Traore
      Song Rosicky
      Gervinho Ramsey Arshavin
      Chamakh

S: Fabianski, Jenkinson, Miquel, Frimpong, Lansbury, Afobe, Watt

    Matt Gunn,

Cesc is not a child, prisoner, slave etc. There is no need to feel sorry for that c…, he is an adult under contract. Personally I would like him to leave, that would be the best that has happened to AFC since Vieira kicked that ball in 2005. Get rid of Nazri too and get Mata, Benzema and Cahill. Then maybe we will get 4th spot come may.

He can #uck off, if a player is willing to pay for his own departure, then he never had it for the club.
Let him rot on the bench he has a contract to meet.
    He is no kid anymore.
Cesc, I never liked u since u were named captain

    mystic,

Great point Mystic. I am fed up with all these people saying Arsenal are to blame as well as Barca in this saga. Bottom line is we value him at £40M. If Barca do not come up with the money, then they don’t get him.

Sounds like a straightforward issue to me. If Barca rate him, then pay up. The fact they bought Sanchez first shows how much they obviously give a sh*t about Fabregas.

One thing that has made me laugh is how Barca are now putting buy back options in the contracts of the players they are selling. Bojan and Romeu are the first 2. That way they won’t be in the same position in future.

    DANTHEHOTSPURMAN,

You sad lowlife. Your ambition is to ‘take’ Arsenal, not win the league or finish 2nd or 3rd. Typical scum fan. Your season is made or broken by Arsenal.
