Dein: Gooners must back Wenger at Arsenal

David Dein reckons Arsenal fans must give manager Arsene Wenger the respect he deserves or risk losing him.

The Beeb reports that AW is under increasing pressure from supporters after six seasons without a pot and that when asked if Wenger could leave, the former Arsenal vice-chairman said: “That’s always an option open to him.

He added: “It could come to a stage when he will say, ‘Well, I have had enough’. At least that’s how I feel and I feel the fans should feel that. They should at least give him the respect that he deserves for what he’s done.”

”People talk about ‘Has his time finished at the club?’ That’s a very dangerous thing to say because it’s easy to get rid of people and then what? People talk about buying players. Well, you’ve got to get players who are better than the ones you’ve got at the moment.”

Dein left Arsenal in 2007 and  is still good friends with AW but said he sympathises with Gooners. “I can understand their worry because the expectation level today is so high and Arsene has brought such success to the club. In 15 years that he’s been there every year we’ve been in the Champions League. So you can understand, perhaps, fans feeling a little bit frustrated that they haven’t seen a trophy for a few years.

“Under Arsene Wenger’s stewardship, they’ve had good times and very good times and there’s no reason to expect why we shouldn’t see them again.”

Eldewhere, the Mirror claims that Samir Nasri is joining Manchester City – but he would prefer to sign for their United. The paper says Nasri has told friends that his dream was to sign for United when he made his mind up to quit Arsenal this summer.

Meanwhile the Sun says Everton have put Arsenal on “red alert” by admitting they might be forced into a player fire-sale.  The paper reports that we have been keeping tabs on Goodison Park duo Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines. And our hopes of getting the players were given a boost after Everton chairman Bill Kenwright admitted the club must sell before they can buy.

Baines is a new one on me but at present I’d take them both.

How can we back the manager when all we see is a crumbling club? to say we could of got double the value for Cesc is disgusting he’s a commodity as a player and we should of got best value not been bullied by the barca mafia. WE have to sign players their are already nine out tomorrow its disgusting.

I think Wenger is using Dein as a puppet here so he can say I told you so when the manager departs around Christmas time when we are in tenth place and out of Europe!

Jago, you are way out, if you support the club like every fan should do, then you must respect their decisions, not spending outrageous amount on players, trying to get the wages as low as possible, yes Arsenal is a Football Club but it’s also a business, and like every single business in the world, spend on wrong things and you shut.
Also, a player who do not want to leave the club worth £60m, Fabregas worth £30m because he wanted to go, everyone in the world knew that, it would have been silly to keep him at the club to see him play like he did last season, half what he can do just for cash, it’s just like Nasri, look at his stats over 3 seasons with the gunners, with one year left on his contract and £22m offered by shity, I say yes definitly, Arsenal must sell him.
DO you want to replace Wenger, go ahead do that, and you ll see when the club end up…

For years on, we heard that Arsenal was going to fail because of this or that and at the end, we are still up there, in the top 4, playing the Champions League, yes I want to see a trophy too but is it worth to put the club in jeopardy just for the sake of a trophy? Does name like Leeds or Portsmouth sound familiar?

these are new quotes and David Dein is on a charm offensive. Perhaps Wenger told him that he was worried about his job security while they were on holiday?

As a gooner for nearly 40 years I am very frustrated by what is happening at the moment. Dein calls for loyalty but that is a bit rich if you ask me. 6 years is a long time to be bridesmaid but only now is the murmur of discontent showing it’s head. I don’t think I want wenger to go I just want him to be a bit more ruthless in the transfer department. He has made a massive difference to this club and for this reason he has been given a lot if support by fans but having the piss taken by othr fans is getting a bit hard to take now. Please mr wenger stop going on the bargain hunt and buy some real quality and make a statement of intent. We ARE a big club and we should be challenging a bit harder. I really believe if the right signings are made we could be champions again but only the deadline we tell us how our season will go. We all are willing him to spend and I for one will fall back into line behind wenger. As I think will we all.

Ha! Respect for Wenger? Respect breeds respect. And as the last few seasons have showed, we see a manager who lies to the fans (‘we’re not buying players because we’re only after ‘Super talent’ etc) and ignores the main problems which everyone else can see and is basically sticking two fingers up to the fans, arrogantly continuing on with his flawed theory of bargain-bin inexperienced youth – a theory that no other club in the Premiership follows – I wonder why?

As for the increasinging minority of Arse(ne)-kissers, who blindly follow our increasingly stubborn and deluded manager, a reminder: Arsene is NOT the club – he is a key part of it, but not the most important part of it  – he IS replaceable – by Mourinho, for instance…

Just because Arsene was great six years ago, doesn’t mean he always will be. If we have not bought experienced talent by the end of August, it’ll be time for him to head for the exit.

I wish all You fans remembered what you said when clichy replaced Ashley Cole, or  fabregas replaced Viera!!!! You said Arsenal was finished. But that was the team that Reached Finals and a semifinal of UEFA Champions League, Yet the previous teams had not. Please Give the Coach chance to do his work (who is by the way paid to do that).   Please remember that this club is owned by profit minded Gentleman whose history has never been to please fans but his Bank account(check the history of all clubs he has ever owned whether  they have ever won anything). What I am saying the problem is not Wenger perse we need to direct our anger elsewhere just like Manure guys have been doing. Otherwise Wenger wants success more than all of us fans who think we care more than him.No matter what I trust Wenger to pull it through.

Be careful though people, look let’s be brutally honest about this, The Arsenal board know (and so do you) that it will take several hundreds of millions of pounds to compete for titles now, Wenger has been making loud noises about the injustice of huge spending boards with unlimited funds, and he is right to do that, you are all getting excited over Baines and Jagielka, behave people..City have Yaya Toure, Aguero, Tevez (can’t even get a game) Milner and Johnson, Hart..Dzeko, United have Young, Rooney, Evra, Fletcher, Nani,
Every single player listed above is far superior to what you are in the transfer market for and every player listed above would be welcomed to Arsenal as a good signing…Arsenal through no fault of their own are miles behind competing with the big boys now and it is all down to what Wenger has stated….corruption, backhanders and unlimited funds…Wenger is not a bad manager…he is just trying to dine at The Ritz with shirt buttons…Nasri has as good as proved Wengers comments to be true…the very same fans on here slating Wenger would cause F***ing uproar if the board bankrupted the club..so face fatcs and fast..the money men have taken over and you can’t do shit all about it !
Spurs and Arsenal will only get what the top table don’t want to eat !
