Sol Campbell’s Arsenal chance as cover for crocked Vermaelen

Remember the internet joke doing the rounds in the summer about a certain Titus Bramble coming to the Arsenal? If you missed it some mischievous cove used Twitter to spread the rumour that the bungling Bramble was on his way to the Emirates and that Arsene Wenger was convinced it was he, not Per Mertersacker, Gary Cahill, Chris Samba or Phil Jagielka, who was the answer to our defensive woes.

My how we laughed.

Fast forward a few weeks and we’re not laughing anymore are we? Why? Because TV5 is bleedin’ crocked again and we are back to square one. Yes, the big German from Werder Bremen has provided rearguard reinforcements. But can you say, with hand on heart, that you are encouraged by the fact that we must rely on either Johan Djourou or Laurent Koscielny as his partner? To be fair, the latter is the better bet but has he fully recovered from his back injury in time for Saturday? What’s that? Seb Squillaci? Nurse, more pain-killers, please.

Which takes me back wild and inaccurate rumours (and Lord knows I know what I am talking about here) – and may I refer the honourable gentlemen to the answer I gave some moments ago (Bramble)…for we have a ready-made former international central defender in our midst. A stalwart stopper who is training with the Gunners, isn’t attached to a club and can be signed on a short-term deal until the entire medical team at the club are sectioned and TV5 is nurtured back to fitness.

Yes, step forward Sulzeer Jeremiah Campbell. Dare AW do it? Hire a player that was shown the door in the summer after a stuttering spell at Newcastle United? He knows the boss. He knows the players. He knows the set-up. Is he up to it?  Discuss…

Mertesacker and Campbell would form one of the slowest defence pairings in the league. After the season he had last time around for Newcastle, I would prefer Koscielny or Djourou alongside Mertesacker.

I wonder if slow is a bad thing? Would it not be better that our centre backs are grounded hwere they should be in front of goal than in the other teams half while one of their players is bombing it toward our goal? :-)

it would not surprise me if Wenger signed him he is clueless !

Now if I remember correctly, Wenger stated at the end of last season that Wilshere was ‘on the red line’ as far as his fitness and general well-being, so instead of resting him until he was back to full fitness he played him in the first five pre-season friendlies which included a long trip to the far-east, until he eventually broke down against NY Red Bulls. He then proceeds to blame England for playing him against Switzerland. I don’t think I have ever come across someone as blinkered and arrogant as that man.

time to get rid and move on with a new manager in my opinion now.and as a rival fan I have stuck up for Wenger for a while now but he is being exposed as clueless in every department, signings, injuries, cover, coaching, medical staff, ramblings, he has lost the plot big time !

You don’t want the clown and I wouldn’t inflict him on you lot either ha ha..

No I am not sure on the correct man to replace him if I am honest, I think there are still some big names out there who could do a fine job but sadly Chelsea have ploughed their way through half of them, I think Arsenal need to consider a man like Laurent Blanc or Ferrera at Juventus, men with respect in the game, doing a solid job at big clubs and with a degree of youthfulness to ..

        a, have fresh ideas
b, remain under the control of the board.

Wenger is bigger than Arsenal and that is a stupid situation for the board to have got themselves in.

          Bigsy,

The problem is there is nobody at the club with the nous to select a new manager, I can see the task being contracted out to some firm of American headhunters.  We’ll probably end up with some former Vice President of Shopping Trolleys from Walmart.

Like him or not, we need David Dein back at the club. Personal problems need to be put aside, i.e. the sale of shares to Uzi which instills bitterness in some fans. The board need to be men enough and reinstate him for the good of the club.
Silent also needs to get involved as it was because of him DD got the shove.

I couldn’t agree more, unfortunately the numpties on the board are spineless arselickers who haven’t had an original thought in years.

Dein’s friendship with Wenger may not be enough for him to make it possible to return while the present chairman remains glued to his seat.

bigsy we appreciate your opinion but you really should add “backtowhereyoucamefrom” at the end of your name.. how Sol Cambell interests you puzzles me,as he doesnt really excite us true arsenal fans at this time nor will he ever reach the status he once held…RESPECT of the upmost will always be held for a man who was once lost… only to find his way to glory in the red and white and classy part of london(up NORTH).. Seems to me like your a little lost yourself..we hav and always will deal with our problems, issues and any turbulence that others may deem 2 be a disaster in a proffessional manner, behind closed doors with any laundry to be aired to the faithful and only the faithful… NOW unless your willing to follow in Sol Cambells shadow and make the divide with the canon permanently tattoed on your heart (which id get up and applaud for finally seeing the light) then i have my own opinion for you..so LISTEN CAREFULLY!!! whether you support some low life spuds(bar modric) or you live to hav a toss over that joke of a timekeeper you may call your coach in ‘bacon face’ at MAN.URE.fc or even get giddy at a sugardaddy of an owner who all of a sudden is a cool foreign bloke thats ready to blow roman out of the water wen it comes to spending his allowance after it was unnacceptable at the time of wengers foreign revolution or youve decided to come out of the crack u were hiding in whilst liverpool were paddling up a river full of diorreah, only to now beat your chest after aquiring another arsenal star in commolli or you hav wet dreams over tony pulis’ LONG BALLS, wotever it may be or whoever you follow, by all means keep following out of here..every club and his dog hav issues and problems…GLAZERS RAPE OF MAN.URE, ARRYS FLUKE IN a season pass 2 CHAMPS LEAGUE WEN WE SAID IT WOULDNT LAST AND YOUD HAV TO SELL UR BEST(snakes n ladders, down they go!!) or ur manshittys problems of not pinning a trophy for 50+ yrs only to finally buy the fa cup for about the same amount of money we spent in those 5 decades wen they went trophyless, or LFCs rise back to the top..yeah the TOP HALF OF THE LADDER, heres something YOU HAVNT ACHIEVED ANYTHING YET apart from beating a depleted arsenal squad at our home first time in a decade, give or take…SO WHICH 1 IS IT??? dont tell me your that sad that you support a team outside the possible top5/6 only to come here 2 hav wet dreams bout our history…whichever it may or may not be, arsene or no arsene..lost the plot or intellegent manager put into a pocket by our situation with our board..wotever, WE HAV IN THE PAST DEALT WITH OUR OWN SHIT N GOT THROUGH ANY TOUGH TIMES WITH OUR FLAG FLYING HIGHEST IN LONDON AT THE END OF THE DAY…OUR HISTORY SPEAKS FOR ITSELF which we MUST BLAME WENGER FOR ALL OF THAT IRRELEVANT STUFF…YOU KNOW, the titles the doubles the consecutive payday from european qualification OHHH and that rubbish that happened wen they decided to giv us a very very unique name in the ‘INVINCIBLES”!! why was that again??  FUCK I THINK THAT GENIUS you SLAG TO HAV LOST THE PLOT LEAD US 2 A HISTORICAL UNDEFEATED SEASON…. Its well documented thay wenger hasnt signed enough defensive players of quality , but the biggest problem at Arsenal is the MEDICAL STAFF.. Never have i seen over the years a team with so many players with soft tissue injuries that wont go away…..Fabergas , RVP , Theos ankles , Djorou , the list is endless. There isnt a coach anywhere that can succeeed with this medical team and we will never be any better till we solve it. Outside of Ramsey , look at all the injuries weve had , they are mostly all preventable or at least ones that other teams would heal in 1/2 the tyme.

GET A NEW BLEEDIN’ MEDICAL TEAM!!! Season after season we face injury after injury, I understands it’s all part of the nature of the game etc but COME ON why do our players appear to be made of glass!? Van Persie, Walcott, Vermaelen, Diaby and Gibbs to name a few, now we have Benayoun and Arteta who could possibly be added to that. Don’t get me worng, I am happy with these 2 signings, but what happens if we lose these 2 also!? We’re not even back to square one, we’re even further back than that!

No need for Sol……………..just yet. We are in a much stronger position than last season as we actually have another centre back, also Miquel, Kos and JD are a year further down the line. In addition, we have Frimpong and Coquelin who look more than capable in the DM role should Song need to drop back. Last season we really only had 3 centre backs and Song and when we used Song we had to rely on Denilson as the DM!!

More worryingly , is it time for us to re-think TV5 as our Centre Back? Perhaps we would be far less troubled if it was a left back that was struggling for fitness, after all he is the 3rd best left back in the world and a centre back partnership is essential for a successful team. Personally i would be trying to sign Vertonghen and Cahill in the january window, then looking for those 2 and Mertesacker fight it out to form a partnership.

All the medical staff can do is treat injuries as and when they happen as well as make sure players properly cool down, stretch and massage. Muscle pulls and strains are mostly down to over use, i.e. over training or not enough rotation. Injuries like Wilshere’s or Vermaelen’s which are structural are down to tackles or twists, what realistically can the medical staff do differently? Aside from diagnosing it correctly and quickly which was Vermaelen and RVP’s problem last year (to be fair every specialist in the World struggled with Vermalen’s diagnosis)… I’d be more inclined to ask why we’re getting so many muscular injuries of such severity in the first place?

Koscielney being termed as great or awesome have got to be THE joke comments of the century so far!  This average ex ligue 1 “player” and I use that term loosely, is another of Wengers long line of crap centreback signings….and remember apart from the numerous cock ups made last season culminating in the League Cup final joke….. he was also in the 8-2 loss to Utd and he was at least part to blame for the first goal which started the rout!!!   So when the foul mouthed genius named as “dandydan”  makes a comment that he is awesome and was fantastic last season..well of course we can all relax can’t we!!!  But in reality once again narrow minded thinking and poor player purchases have put us in the position that means we have to throw Mertesacker in at the deep end with the likes of Koscielney, Djourou or heaven forbid… Squillachi.

Thankfully first up is Swansea and it should, and I do hesitate when saying this, it should be a relatively straight forward win for us. Then we have Blackburn away and who have  not started well, same with Bolton at home and then the big one Sp*rs away…. now I was concerned last year when we played them because for the first time in 20 years I really felt  that we may lose to them, and was gutted when we did. Similarly, I am dreading meeting them so early with this squad, and even if we had everyone back and available I believe that we are seriously deluding ourselves if we think that we will go into the game at best on an even basis, but in reality maybe slightly behind them. This hurts me to say having hated them for 50 years….. hopefully I am wrong and I will pleasantly surprised…..however the biggest concern for us all is that we need points, no matter how we get them, because if after playing sp*rs we have anything less than 9 points in total, there will be a growing concern that we shall be in for a challenge of a different kind this season!

yeah he knows the boss…SO what!! and so do many other people in the football community, actually if you were to ask any random player in the premier league who is the boss (and i assume you mean boss of the arsenal team and not club) eitha they would seriously look around for hidden cameras and smirk, perhaps ask you in return if u were lost n needed a ride back to your room in hospital, maybe qustion wether you bumped your head and was getting treated by Stan Kroenkes arsenal medics or just believe that your none the wiser, on a holiday from some rugby nation who havnt a clue wot to do with a round ball !!!!! ohhhhh hang on, did u mean ‘know him’ as in his style n tactics or on a more intimate level, cause d set up ? would cover the first part of style and tactics but hey, havnt u noticed its changed, style is non xsistent without the likes of team regulars like rvp n wilshere fully fit in the team every week, alot of style went out the door with francesc and shit, our tactics was based on our ex cesc n hellllllo HES GONE! YEP NEVER COMING BACK!!! seriously dude, where you from…some rugby nation????? LOL..but then if u meant on an intimate level or as a blossomed friendship over time then SuRE, he knows wenger but so does Alex ferguson, n probably better than Sol, ferguson talks to him over a glass of wine after a few games in the past and probably will do in the future even wen his great ol rival of yesteryear decides that stan kroenke has raped and violated him all to often that hed be destined for the calls of home, i mean his childhood home his roots and ST Germaine of Pari ‘..on the flipside, can you tell me honestly that wenger even talks shop with players who are to spend more of the 90 min in their own box than any other team mates… DEFENDERS?? who are they, what do they do? i did not see it..!! KNOWS the Players? yeah as well as any one else, but theyve shipped out, changed or honesty would barely associate with him off the training track!!! yep cos arshavin would take big soout for a nite of karaoke and shots of turps…is he up to it?? yeah of course, how old is he again??? 46 or sumfin, cant he play for the senior league now with sylvestre and stam…. Look m8, you love arsenal, its a given, you were so bored with lack of football recentlyor your lack of a love life that you unearthed a random story with some crazy possibilities and you went with it, and all i an do is laugh at you..the last thing we need is stan d silent dick getting feedback of a cheap signing who ticks all your bulshit pre requisites and giving wenger 750,000 to pay his wages for a year….SOL CAMBELL, great player, defender, leader and mentor… WAY WAY BAK IN HIS DAY WEN ARSENE HAD BROWN HAIR ND FASHIONED GLASSES…EVEN I CANT REMEMBER BACK THAT FAR.but back in that day, even sylvestre was al those things winning trophies. hang on, wasnt Gronkjaer playing then, oh di canio, YOU GET MY DRIFT, and the DRiFT of all people who could be bothered to offer you some advice through their comments on your capturing exclusive..Wow sol cambell, so fitting with the window shut, injuries aplenty, interboringnational qualifiers on and your need to express your creative flair in journalism..dont mean to be rude, coz we here in oz always appreciate a bloke willing to hav a go, but i couldnt help laugh whilst i was reading the post. its like i imagined a 12 year old kid who got excited for thinking up a band aid fix to his teams frailty’s and believing his great idea could be opened to discussion amongst the faithfull coz our scouts wages in excess of 500,000pound plus is a bit to steep compared to your 30 sec brainstorming and a couple of bucks on the post, with electricity for the computer n all…i do give you credit though, your either a lonely bloke and as much as u needed, you got ur attention or your a genius comedian and you went with the blatant bulshit story to get a rise out of all the other bored lonely peoples looking for any football fix in regards to their team..go with the latter chief, il let u tax that.. but u should be writing posts on the possibility of signing talent that would grow in2 the new arsenal era post viera, cesc, dennis.. players that we hav a genuine flirt sense with such players as neven subotic both for now n the future, players with a geuine interest from wenger..this season is gone, believe me we cantry, but the only reason we signed a yossi on loan was for a quick band aid fix cos stan.K is tight on the cash for arsenes wishlist including hazard from over 3 yrs ago first mentioned by arsene nd emerging yannick m’villa. arsene isnt tight as we might believe, he does like to shop and will fight to get a good price because he is forced to by our board.. nd hed rather sign no one than buy his 2nd or third choice transfer wish for a price like carrol.. put the pressure on stan my friend n it all starts with your communication via your clever posts..generate a discussion to get people focusing on our owner who had his tongue cut off last time he baulked at the prices of defenders.. stan and the board remind me of any kid wanting to go movies and hav a teenage outing with his mates(arsene), over here in oz, id say bout 40 aust. dollars would cover the whole day with travelling and grub in the tummy, so along comes the excited boys grandmother(Stan d dik) who loves her grandson so much she offers some pocket money in return for some chores(self sustaining business model), a nasty foot rub and n oath to secrecy bout the funny things going on at grandmas house(emirates). the little boy loves his grandmother and her place that hed be willing to put up with the rub and is felt like a king at grandmas house that he wouldnt dare say wots happening in the backyard so long as hes getting fed whilst hes there..time has come to meeet up at the flicks(transfer window opens). boy is so excited cause he knows hes been good and always did as asked with respect to the family and home. GRANDMA STAN comes out to meet with the boy arsene.. very proud of him with so much delight in her grandsons character and the willingness to succeed, but above all please grandma stan as it is his only way of knowing how to do things, honest and a man of his word, meaning he along with anybody else he knows will always be 2nd best to grandma, her needs and wishes for the future… Here she comes handing him a crisp 5dollar bill thatd been ironed out under the bed along with the other 500  5dollar bills strategically placed over her time. the boy arsene cant help but be upset at the promise of some pocket money only to recieve barely enough for travelling to the movies. “whats wrong”? asks grandma stanwho can see that her grandson who had never dislayed displeasure was clearly frustrated with the bodgy bros. deal that he even kicked out at a waterbottle..”nana’ says arsene, “id really like to go out with the boys for a bite to eat after the movie, but the movie alone costs 9 dollars”..its the first time little arsene has voiced his concern to her and though he feels awkward n helplesssly guilty in her eyes, the backlash from his mates(naive fans) for never going out and never having cash flow would be to great a burden for him to kop ovr and over again..so as grandma walked to her bed for some more spending sugar(which litttle arsene had known all along about but neva dare question or steal out of respect for the hand that feeds him) his tune had suddenly turned positive as he called his mates to say hed meet them at the cinema. his mates(fans) had been so puzzled and suprised that hed actually b making a day of it(transfers)……great, here comes grandma stan with a fulfilling smile only to open his palm(the tightarse) and place 6 more dollars in the unexpecting but unsuprised arsene’s hand..”dont spend it all at once! you have a pumpkin pie in the oven if ur hungry and if ur good and keep up with all your work n chores il suprise you nxt wk with a day out 4 dessert”. “great, he replies with grea respect, in a sarcastic and unsuspecting tone’ walking off he mumbles under his breath that he does not classify a soft serve cone from mcdonalds as a desert, but would have to take up the offer (yossi benayoun on loan) to satisfy his need of living a liitle and getting out a bit before school resumes (pressure on, season starts) SO YOUR GETTING THE JIST OF ARSENES COMPLICATIONS AND JUGGLING ACT AT PLEASING ALL ROUND HIM least of all himself.. LONG STORY… VERY LONG STORY SHORTer, little arsene goes to the cinema (to prove he can mix with the top 4 without any1 knowing his budget) , plans his getaway after the flick to avoid any money scenario with his mates(Fans).. ” i have to go, i promised il b home for apple pie and ice-cream, and later i get to choose a brand new playstation game to buy” he didnt lie, he merely swerved the truth to keep others around him happy and content for wotever situation might be lurking——-TRANSLATION———-apple pie n ice cream= vermaelen jus like a new signing….and thers always pumpkin pie in the oven=Squillaci all burnt out and nobodys favourite yet arsene concedes that pumpkin pie will still do a job and fill the stomache, rather than whinge and let others know bout his dillemas, arsene has learnt to paint the perfect picture to all around him.. hes mastered it!!! bcoz wot isnt broke does not need to be fixed although he does wish for the apple pie= gary cahill, phil jags, etc and he did later go 4 a wander to the games shop to look at some games (hazard, m’villa, benzema)..he knew grandma stan would never condone that sort of spending on a game(player) wen the basics were at home(emirates) after all he had everything to compete, food–though some not to his fancy, had a roof over his head which he helped grandma stan and his family pay off—no debt, which will never be impressive to his mates(THEY JUST DONT CARE) and he had plenty of hand me downs to wear which one day would come full circle and back in2 fashion(players from the youth set up groomed to be winners-ONE DAY)..you see in this story, the things little arsene has had to put up with, and smooth over to please everybody around him yet still keep up with the status quo…Questionable yet amazing….would little arsene grow to be a better person and possibly more successful if he was to dip into the strategically placed crisp 5dollar bills for his own enjoyment? or even if grandma stan had pushed arsene harder using just a tiny percentage of that small fortune which he had indirectly helped her to gather over time through work, allowance, birthday gifts and selling his unwanted at garage sales.. you see, alot of arsenes mates(fans) dont really know wots really going on in his life,or at his home and those who look a bit closer will find disappointment, despair, and frustration that creeps into his life and on his face…but if he can help not show it, he realises that a bit of patience will one day reap him rewards(financially secure) one day everything he had helped save, build, and create will be there in abundance and prosper in the future for all his mates to envy and enjoy with him…some cause for concern is that some close mates who are really monitoring the whole situation closely believe that arsenes’ patience with the moral highground he takes and his sense of loyalty to all those around him could bring him to breaking point where he loses his faith in all that he helped create..you see AS A MATE I REMEMBER WEN ARSENE HAD LITTLE TOYS AND luxuries (viera cesc bergkamp henry) HE WAS FAR MORE positive and creative in all his work and it definately showed, but recently in the last 6 years or so since grandma stan came into arsenes’ world hes beome more of a pleaser rather than an achiever an i believe if arsene got a little present every now and then as a sign of appreciation(hazard on the radar for over three yrs) he would no doubt prosper in his ventures and even make sure that grandma stan was looked after well into her old grey age..if only to dabble in a couple of those 5dollar bills, he could show off to his mates his new toys, get a bit of confidence and really shine the way i once new he did rather than to please all around him in return for unwarranted critisicm by those who know him a little less and are quick to judge him like vultures from above without an inkling as to wot goes on in his house and to please a very stubborn and maybe not knowingly, but greedy grandma who in my eyes must learn to get with the times and to realise that to look after little arsene is to look after herself for the long run.. like this im worried that he could turn his back on all and evryone hes believed  and confided in to return to the st germain of paris.. he once told me that he heard that place call his name and that as long as he was pleasing others at the sake of his own true happiness nd achievments…. without gratitude in the house that he almost single handedly brought to the fore and revolutionised…nd then later stabalised for other peoples ungrateful claim to fame…. That call of his name in the distant whispers of the winds will only get stronger as people in his own house now start to call for an end to arsenes dramatic life as hes always known since his rise. and achievments.. OHH to be gunner!!! as a mate i dare say to grandma tightarse STAN.. start to appreciate your littl arsene and know that without him, you are nothing in this home, and that your stubborn attitude towards the situation willonly lead to the greatest backfire and uprise in this beatiful homes’ history to which many a friend of ARSENE WENGERS’ will again stand in unity to fight against the demise of our home, YOU HAVE OUR SUPPORT ARSENE, and to the bulshit board that pretends to run our club in an economically sound fashion,,FUCK YOU FOR THE LAST 6 YRS AND TO BLAME IT ALL ON WENGER… SILENT STAN WE SALUTE YOU IN THE SAME WAY YOU SALUTE US PEOPLE WHO CONTINUE TO FILL YOUR DEEP POCKETS>EITHA SHAPE UP< LEARN TO TALK< AND LEAD US OR GIVE ARSENE BACK HIS FUNDS WITH A BLESSING TO LEAD US AS HE ALWAYS HAS, CAN, DID, AND WILL AGAIN WITHOUT ALL THE GREEDY BOARDS DIRTY FINGERS IN THE COFFERS THAT WE FIL EVERY WEEK..WEARE ASHAMED O OUR BOARDS LACK OF AMBITION..GROW SOME BALLS MR AMERICANO AND PROVE TO US THAT YOUR WILLING FIGHT TO GET ACK TO WHERE ARSENAL BELONG….WITH ARSENE WENGER AND BACK AT THE TOP…STOP DISGUSTING US INTO MISERY AND USING WENGER AS SCAPEGOAT, NOW COP THIS ALL ON THE CHIN LIKE A REAL MAN IN THE ARSENAL FASHION… NO MORE SILENCE..STAN..ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, SPEAK UP ND LEAD OR YOU WILL REGRET DIPPING YOUR DICK INTO THE SUPPORTERS POCKETS
