Wenger’s £7million bid for Valencia ace Parejo

Arsene Wenger is lining up a £7million move for Valencia midfielder Daniel Parejo in January. The mail says Arsenal representatives were in Spain last week to meet the 22-year-old’s agent.

It is reported that central midfielder Parejo is a graduate of Real Madrid’s academy and also had a spell at QPR three years ago before joining Valencia this summer. But Parejo is yet to feature for his new club and wants to return to England.

RVP doing a bunk is the main Arsenal yarn doing the rounds. The Mirror reports that the Dutch striker, who bagged his 100th goal in the 3-0 win over Bolton, has “warned Arsenal he is not ready to sign a new deal”.

The paper says AW has tried to pin him down but the player “has made it clear he is in no rush and is desperate to be successful in his career”. He said: “I still have almost two years until 2013. So for the moment that’s fine, but I don’t know. We will have to look.”

Meanwhile, the Metro claims RVP has revealed the secret behind Arsenal’s improved performance at the weekend, letting slip all the players recently enjoyed a midweek boogie during a team dinner.

I don’t know how true the Parejo story is, but at least it indicates that we may not be waiting untill the “eleventh hour” to do the January transfer window business.

On a non-football matter,  congratulations to Mark Cavendish on winning the Road Race World Championship yesterday in Copenhagen.  This follows a fantastic season for Mark in which he won the Green Jersey and numerous stage wins in The Tour de France, stage wins in the Tour of Spain as well as two wins in Criterium races.  Mark must be the best British sportsman of the year, if he doesn’t win the BBC Sports Personality of the year I’ll eat my hat.  Well done Mark.

Throughout the year every year we are linked with millions of players yet we consistently do our business late or in some windows, not at all. And the players brought in are never the ones we are linked with in the papers.

Surely the fans have learnt by now not to believe any of the stories they read.
