Arsenal & Spurs to ban abusive fans

Tottenham and Arsenal are united in their determination to identify fans from both clubs who were guilty of offensive chanting during Sunday’s North London derby at White Hart Lane.

Spurs’ 2-1 victory over their bitter local rivals was overshadowed by abusive jeers from both sets of supporters.

Sections of the home crowd taunted Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, while some away supporters were widely condemned for mocking the deadly gun attack on the Togo team bus in January 2010 which Emmanuel Adebayor survived.

Tottenham confirmed that several fans from both the home and away sections of the crowd were ejected from White Hart Lane during the game. In line with the club’s zero-tolerance policy on abusive chanting, they have also promised to ban any guilty party for life.

Arsenal, meanwhile, intend to work closely with their counterparts at White Hart Lane to root out the offenders.

A joint statement read: “Both clubs were extremely disappointed to hear the chants from supporters at Sunday’s game. Neither club tolerates foul language, racist chanting, homophobic chanting or any anti-social behaviour from its supporters. We shall be working closely with each other to identify the individuals involved.”

I think it is time to draw a line in the sand and stop all this nonsense, don’t get me wrong I was quite capable of being a thug in my younger years, and am well aware of who ‘the Bear’ was and ‘Tanner’ etc but it is just not the same anymore as it used to be, did you see Adebayor hugging and shaking hands with all the Arsenal staff ? Walker and Sczezny go off with their arms around each other, and we all return to work mates and family divisions, now adays we sit in stadiums, we cannot fart, we cannot swear, we cannot smoke, drink or even stand up for 2 minutes..it is just like American stadia and it is time we all recognised football as we knew it and let’s be honest enjoyed it at times is over..yes we can safely say my one moment of glory being marched along the touchline at higbury with tens of other spurs fans after being thrown out of the north bank in 1987 is over , but it was fun and we have all grown up now and have family, also if you are reading this and you was the poor bloke who was standing behind the big red metal gate under the clock end that divided us fans , it was me who leant through the gap and squirted you with a ketchup bottle ! ha ha

You’re spot on mate and sadly it’s all around us with all this politically correct shit, I’m not saying we should tolerate the extremists but it’s fast becoming a very sterile world, most of the fun stuff is now lost.
At least we had a bit of banter on the weekend eh?

Yeah we did and the PC brigade win everytime, It is absolute madness when you think about it, for years and years I have had people sitting around me in stadiums that I have disliked and have been unable to do anything about it, now I can make up any excuse in the world and text a number and get them ejected from the ground and that has to be wrong..there was something rather manly about running out of the pub and across the road into the ground at 2.56 at the old dell in Southampton and stinking of beer in a large group for 90 minutes. effing and blinding at officials and laughing at Armstrong with his hair missing, and Alan Ball (rest his soul) with his squeaky voice, that is what made Football, now it is like going to the Cinema via the expensive visit to the club shop.
Once again blame Sol Campbell he started all this nonsense of being picked on, Tony Adams just got on with it like the man he is, Mabbutt was a junkie wasn’t he, never heard him complain ..lightweight overpaid wimps !

Homophobic chanting is wrong end of likewise the chanting of Man Utd and spurs towards Wenger which should have been clamped down on sooner.  What has got me over the past 5-10 years is the lack of gennuine banter and funny chants and the increasing vile chanting that as an Arsenal fan leaves me cold.

There have been many wrongs from so called spurs fans over the years but it doesn’t justify the songs that were being to Abebayor yesterday.

I mark you right but this has got all out of hand, football on these shores is about the working man from working families with working mentalities going to the game and using that working class mentality to make the stadia a place of enjoyment, I am in no way anti women at football, I am in no way anti order and comfort, but Football is right on the brink now by turning it into a middle class sport, and trust me the middle class will not save the games arse when it falls and becomes unfashionable and like it or not Arsenal FC are bordering on losing the lifeblood of the club, they really are !
