Arsenal relief as curse of Lauren’s pinched Rolex is lifted

For six long years it has irked me. Long days and longer nights pondering just what had happened that fateful day and would the mystery every be solved. I am not afraid to admit it left me discombobulated at every turn. No longer, though. The news is out. The children can smile again.

For we are told that our former hero Lauren (Ralph) has been reunited with his £6,000 Rolex watch stolen in a burglary during his time at Highbury. Oh the relief, eh, Arsene?  And it gives us a chance to publish the snap of Lauren demonstrating his negotiating skills during a game against United – apologies for the rat being in the image as well.

For the record, we have been treated to an inspirational piece of wisdom from the Met’s DS Richard Grove, who said: “We are delighted to be able to reunite Lauren with his watch.” Hour upon hour to write that one, guv.

Six years without a trophy? Six years without the watch? It’s a sign I tell ya…a sign. The curse has been lifted.

Anyway enough hogwash and bunkum for one day, to the matters in hand. No doubt you have read that Jack is a target for Real Madrid. Oh, really? Course he is – he is a target for any club but that doesn’t mean he is doing one. Why, only recently he said he was a Gooner for life. Real Madrid indeed!

Talking of Jack, Liam Brady has just been on the radio singing his praises and wishing him speed in his recovery from injury. He said: “We all want to see him back quickly. I think the Arsenal team badly need him back, it’s going to be a better team with Jack in it.

“As he gets older, he’s going to take over the mantle as the main man in the middle of the park, both for Arsenal and England, and we could do with getting him back as quickly as possible. He’s a talent everyone is missing at the moment.

“Jack has so much self-belief, he wants to get better at his craft and he’s going to work hard to make himself the best player he possibly can. I think that’s the exciting thing about him, he’s not going to rest on his laurels and get carried away with the fact he’s earning a lot of money, he’s going to get better and better.”

No, no, no. The biggest story of the day is that British Olympian and massive Arsenal fan Kelly Sotherton has renamed her cat after the departure of one of her fave players. And she has had to put up with Twitter trolls hounding her for her support of the rip-roaring Reds. Witness this from the Guardian:

Sotherton is still hounded by some venomous detractors. “I’m Marmite,” she says. “You love me or you hate me. But at least respect me as I am honest. I’m a massive Twitter fan but I’m always being slated for being Arsenal crazy. Recently I’ve been called a Hasbeen Gooner Slut. That’s not called for. I might be a Hasbeen – but at least I’ve been there. And I’m a Gooner. But the slut is ridiculous. This guy doesn’t even know me. I had a right go back at him. Fortunately, there are lots of us intelligent Gooners around.”

Her cat Kolo, meanwhile, has had a subtle name change. “Kolo Touré? Man City? Drug cheat? She’s Kolo Lolo these days.”

Yes. Slow. News. Day.

It’s a pity Lauren didn’t choke the other Neville troglodyte, then we wouldn’t have to listen to his boring monotone diatribes on Sky.

    Eldo,

I hope you’re right about the return of the Rolex, it might just be the end of the jinx, incidentally there was a rumour, at the time of the theft, that the Old Bill recovered a Spurs scarf at the scene of the crime.  Significant!  or what?

So the old rusty bullet hole is starting to nip, arguably the most famous name in the game is sniffing around Jack, for now I think he stays, but will his Inlaws see it that way, perhaps this is the conversation they had with him ??!…….

Jack sit down, we have been thinking, this is a fine opportunity for us to debate your future, you have been in a few minor skirmishes with the law in recent months and now you are a father with responsibilities towards our daughter and your child/ our grandchild, you are a wealthy young man who is only months away from having a nations hopes on your shoulders, we think you may be better off away from these shores, to start a fresh life as a family and to get away from the media driven madness that follows our football, you would be earning significantly more money, still see us regularly as it is only a couple of hours away and what a beautiful chance our grandchild has of growing up..we don’t know a great deal about the football side of things as that is your business but Real Madrid are clearly top dogs, and lets be honest Arsenal are shite these days and Van Persie we hear is looking to do a runner now..the fans will pin everything on your shoulders as will wenger and we feel for that pressure you are better off getting the coin that accompanies it…just our view Jack but I suggest you tell the Arsenal fans you love them in a similar way to Sol Campbell and then do the off like he did…pretty easy and as your mother in law I have always fancied a villa in Madrid..we love you Jack make our little girl happy ! and remember when the pressure of 2012 is on your shoulders you are best off out of it like Beckham did…we love you both !..

you know that is the conversation being had and why wouldn’t you join madrid ? ha ha ..loyalty my arse !

The cock and bull (sorry) cock and ball as usual are departing (as they do at the end of the season) in a very unceremonial way. Nice try.

I thought that in the summer really I did, but right now would you leave Spurs for Chelsea ? not sure I would, he loves London but if Inter, AC or Real Madrid came calling then good luck to him !

He’d probably still go to Chelski for the salary that sadly they can afford to pay.
On that note Jack will stay as it’s too soon for him to ply his trade in Madrid, they are merciless but Modric, being his substitute may move on to the sunshine.

Well I have heard that Real Madrid have now dropped their interest in Jack and moved onto Kyle Walker, different gravy that boy, rarely if at all have I seen a right back so fast that he can make his mistake and still get back in time to deal with the issue in hand, yet another one of the WHL boys that you lot are quietly thinking “oh no please this is not happening” ..Theo Done well again, had 3 crosses all of which failed to beat the first defender and was taken off, if you can’t do it in games like that then you never will…How this country needs Jacky boy sitting in there with Parker the iron man, we can all do without Gareth Barry I think that is one thing we must all agree on !..you all know my views on Lennon and Walcott, both just sprinters with limited ability, but why is Adam Johnson not being played ? he is the best winger in this country by a mile !

I see that you fail to mention Barcas’ interest in the Gareth the one trick pony Bale, amazing really that they have started by saying he’s not worth £34 million, so expect to get around £20 million in January.

If you add the Bale money to the £20 million for Modric, that’s £40 million Levy can stick in the piggy bank (kosher piggy of course) which will make up for the money Spurs are not getting from the government as a bribe to develop your dilapidated excuse for a stadium.

I see old ‘Arry’s rushing back, obviously he’s concerned about missing any bungs that might be heading his way, and Kevin Bond is looking a bit too comfortable in his chair.

Off shortly to enjoy a nice swim on a beautiful Norfolk morning.

we should sell Bale as soon as possible, entirely agree he is without doubt a one trick pony and I am amazed he gets away with it, his reputation is way above his ability and he is a big tart..sooner have Johnson !!.although I have to laugh at the way he went past Jenkinson in the recent derby..see ya mate on with the after burners and good night you mug ! ha ha hilarious..
