Open this morning’s papers, or scour them on line, and you’ll find a hotpotch of hullabaloo pertaining to the Arsenal this morning. So, let’s get to it then…
The Mail has a yarn claiming that we are ready to sign Brum’s England Under-21 keeper Jack Butland, currently on loan at Cheltenham. The paper says Butland has been watched regularly by our scouts this season.
It adds: And Arsenal took a key step towards cementing their interest in the 18-year-old after influential chief scout Steve Rowley and goalkeeping coach Gerry Peyton ran the rule over him in England Under-21′s 5-0 thrashing of Iceland last Thursday.
For the record, Sunderland are also keen on the £1m rated keeper. Of course, that isn’t the only transfer tale doing the rounds. The Sun claims we are preparing a £10m bid for Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue. The paper says Arsene Wenger wants the France Under-21 star after being priced out of his top target – £25m-rated Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila.
Over to the Mirror, which reports that Bordeaux president Jean Louis Triaud has admitted he has had several attempts to re-sign striker Marouane Chamakh – but his efforts have been ignored by Arsenal.
Oh, and you can do your bit by saying a very firm and impolite No to T******** getting public money to improve their hovel – go to http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/14605
BTW, I see the home game in the Carling Cup with City has sold out. Heartening.
And finally, a non-Arsenal story but a giggle none the less – see here.
