Gooners giggle as ‘Arsenal offer Nasri CL lifeline’

This just in: Arsenal will make a January move to lure Samir Nasri away from Manchester City with the promise of Champions League football. Got to giggle haven’t you?

Fancy another laugh? Take a gander at my view of the game against Olympiakos the other night. Poxy isn’t it? Almost 2,000 miles and a good few hundred quid and I end up staring at the back of a Bubble plod. You can’t blame the Greeks, really. What do they care if we are stuck in the gods with an awful view?

We should do the same at Arsenal. OK, there is not a bad seat to =be had at the Emirates so the view will always be decent. But, as argued on this site a few days, ago, let’s ship the sway fans to the top tier and dampen their enthusiasm somewhat rather than allowing them to have their backing heard from the prime spot in the Clock End.

Ah, well. Over all it was a good trip and I managed to acquaint and reacquaint myself with some good lads who are long in tooth when it comes to travelling abroad watching the Arsenal. The Olympiakos fans I met were friendly enough although did hear one chap got a beating before the game although I know not the circs on that one. I also heard that some Gooners were locked in a bar in Athens while the rioting went on around them. Not sure if they made the game or not.

With the benefit of hindsight I think I’d have preferred to be locked in an Athens aleahouse rather than watch the game but then, fair is fair, were already through and the Greeks had a chance of CL KO qualifcation.

On the plane home we got the news that the Leeds game in the FA Cup had been switched to a Monday night, never a good time to travel to watch football. But Leeds have been given 3,500 tickets or so and can take more - up to 9,000 - if they sell the initial ticket allocation and have the demand.
