Arsenal pair Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott have praised new signing Gervinho, after his impressive two-goal debut won Saturday’s game against FC Cologne.
The Ivorian striker made his debut for the Gunners in the friendly match, and was quick off the mark, with two predatory strikes.
Wilshere set up the first goal, and is pleased that Arsenal have added a quality player to their squad.
On his new team-mate’s performance, he said: “Very impressed, the timing of his runs and even when he got on the end of the ball, he had a finish, I’m very impressed, he’s a good addition to the squad.
“I think his first touch was a goal, if he can keep carry on that form this season we have a new player who can get in 10 or 15 goals a season.
“It’s a midfielder’s dream when you get players that run in behind like that. The timing of his run was perfect and really [it was] an easy pass where I had to chip it over the defender and he was on to it and it was a good finish.
“He’s similar to Theo, obviously each one of the wingers is different and he can score goals as well and that’s what we need, goalscorers and players who are dangerous for the opposition.”
Walcott provided the assist for Gervinho’s second goal of the game, and he also likes the look of Arsenal’s new player, saying: “He looks a great talent. You can tell he can bring goals, he has got plenty of pace about him and is very comfortable on the ball. I am looking forward to playing with him.”
