According to a report from The Daily Mail, Arsenal are set to offer a new and improved contract to tie down Matteo Guendouzi for the next five years.
The 20-year-old, who only joined a year ago, has made quite an impression at the Emirates and is undoubtedly one of the fan favourites. Guendouzi played 48 times for us in all competitions last season despite being just 19 years old and he has gone from strength to strength since then.

Arsenal seem to have learnt their lesson after the mistakes they did with regards to Aaron Ramsey’s contract. The Welshman left for free at the end of last season and that could have played a part in the club starting contract talks early with Guendouzi, despite his contract lasting till 2022.
Unai Emery views him as a ‘useful asset’ according to the report and that could see him double his wages with the new contract. Guendouzi currently earns in the region of £40,000-a-week but his new deal will help him pocket £70,000 every week.

With other players including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette’s contracts running down quickly, Arsenal should look to tie down all of their contracts in the coming months to avoid facing a situation that has been recurring over the years.
