According to a report from Gazzetta, AC Milan are interested in making a January move for Arsenal’s Mohamed Elneny. The Egyptian is currently on loan at Besiktas but the report claims that he is already looking for a change
Elneny made his debut for Besiktas against Gaziantep last month but was sent off in the 76th minute. The suspension has kept him out of league action since but he played both of Besiktas’ Europa League defeats.
A really likeable guy at Arsenal, Elneny is a workhorse and is a perfect squad player for most big sides. However, with the plethora of midfield options available for Unai Emery, Elneny’s chances of game time with us looks bleak.
A move to Milan would be ideal for the 27-year-old and thankfully for him, he has a friendly face there. Ivan Gazidis, who was Arsenal’s CEO, is now pulling strings at Milan which could sway Elneny to the San Siro.
Arsenal have reportedly set an asking price of £13.1 million which could be negotiated further down to suit both sides. Arsenal will be making a decent profit if the numbers come anywhere near the reported amount which makes the deal favourable for all parties involved.
If the deal does happen, Elneny will leave us after three-and-a-half years and 89 appearances but most memorably, that stunner against Barcelona which silenced the Camp Nou, for a few minutes at least.
