According to a report from ESPN, Jose Mourinho is open to replacing Unai Emery as Arsenal’s head coach should the Spaniard face the sack in the coming weeks. The Gunners have won just four of their first 10 league games this season and Emery is under serious pressure to deliver.
Mourinho has always had an unpleasant relationship with the Arsenal fans due to his comments about Arsene Wenger over the years. However, with Wenger out of the picture now, would you take the self-proclaimed ‘special one’ as Arsenal’s new boss?
Let’s look at the pros and cons.

Pros:
- Mourinho is a serial winner. The former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United man has won it all and could get Arsenal back to winning ways.
- Mourinho is a huge fan of Mesut Ozil and vice versa. The duo enjoyed an incredibly successful time at Real Madrid and the German will certainly see more game time under his former boss.
- Arsenal’s biggest problem is their defence and Mourinho is a defensive mastermind. His organisational skills and defensive structure is certain to benefit the Gunners and make them solid at the back.

Cons:
- Mourinho has a history of having problems behind the scenes. From Sergio Ramos at Real Madrid to Paul Pogba at Manchester United, we have seen how toxic the dressing room can get under the Portuguese which makes him a big risk.
- Arsenal are renowned for their attacking style of play. Mourinho will almost certainly kill that and turn us into a counter-attacking team which could either work for or against us on the long run.
- Mourinho has never been at a job for more than three years. The former Inter Milan manager will not be a long-term fix for the Gunners which could leave us in this exact situation in three years time.

Taking Arsene Wenger out of the equation, Mourinho is undoubtedly the biggest name available at the moment. However, with that big name and the big trophies comes a bigger ego which could prove to be detrimental for us in the long run.
However, if Raul Sanllehi, Edu and the rest of the members of the board are looking for an immediate fix, Mourinho is certainly the man. There will be a massive division in our fanbase if he was to be appointed but with football being a business now, Kroenke and co wouldn’t really care.
