Jack Wilshere is no longer at Arsenal, but he remains a fan favourite.

The Englishman came through the ranks at Arsenal’s Academy many years ago and became one of the youngest players to ever play for the club.

The midfielder was viewed as a future superstar at the time, but injuries ruined his career. Wilshere retired in 2022 and decided to become a coach.

He was named the Arsenal U18s boss soon after, and now, he is a part of the Norwich City coaching staff in the Championship.

Norwich City eye move for Arsenal forward Nathan Butler-Oyedeji

Nathan Butler-Oyedeji joined Arsenal when he was just eight.

The talented attacker came through the ranks at the academy, had to overcome a few big injury issues, and then had to prove himself when his role was constantly being changed.

He was sent out on loan to Accrington Stanley and then to Cheltenham, but those spells didn’t quite work out, and he returned to Arsenal.

Butler-Oyedeji has since been playing for the Arsenal Academy sides, and he has been brilliant there.

Mikel Arteta even gave Butler-Oyedeji his senior debut in the Champions League earlier this season, which was a huge moment for him.

With Arsenal set to sign a new striker in the summer, Butler-Oyedeji will drop further down the pecking order, and he could consider his options.

The Daily Mail claim that Norwich City, who have Wilshere as a part of their coaching staff, have the Arsenal Academy graduate in their list of targets ahead of the upcoming window.

Mikel Arteta promised opportunities for Butler-Oyedeji

Injuries have hit Arsenal hard since the start of this season.

The Gunners lost both Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus to season-ending injuries. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli spent a spell away on the sidelines as well, which left the Gunners really short of options up top.

Several academy players were called up to first-team training during that period, and Arteta claimed that Butler-Oyedeji will get opportunities this season along with Ismael Kabia and Charles Sagoe Jr.

With over a month of the season still left to be played, it remains to be seen if the Arsenal manager will keep his promise.
